You know the kind I mean. They consider pretty much everything a sin.Women in the military and workforce, condoms and sex education, certain studies of science, stem cell research and medical break throughs that come from stem cell research, planned parenthood and a woman's right to choose, homosexuality, and any religion that is not their own including to have no religion at all.
To their credit, much of their religion does, in a very obscure way, mention some of these "sins".
But these, for a lack of better words, fundamentalist extremists have become hell bent on not only addressing these issues from their beliefs but making their charge that America as a whole must adhere to their beliefs and interpretations. They walk on the Constitution and the right to freedom of religion. When they hear "freedom of religion" they assume it means freedom for just theirs to be the only one that deserves respect and administer authority on all Americans. Are they going to far?Is a Theocracy coming

And now for a Christians opinion: I too am appalled by the arrogance of the far right religious fundamentalists. I Don't think they represent mainstream Christianity in America. They are poor spokesmen for what we believe. Just reading the first 3 answers you got is enough to make me want to blame them for driving people away from Christ.

Don't worry about a theocracy coming. We STILL have the constitution and it will stand. Mainstream Christians , and Democrat Christians like myself do not support their antics. Our voices will be heard too.

I still believe there are many Christians here who know what true Christianity is and walk according to the fruits of the spirit. Love, joy, peace ,patience, goodness, gentleness, kindness, self-control. Those are the signs of The spirit of Christ. God Bless.

Yes, they are going too far. No, I do not believe a Theocracy is coming, simply because there are too many who would speak out against this type of extremism if it were brought, fully, into our Gov't. Even other Christians wouldn't stand for a stranger telling them what they can or can not do or what to believe. The best (well, worst) they can do, is pick away at the Constitution, such as the whole deal with Homosexual marriage... in the hopes that it will swing completely to their way of thinking. So far, it really hasn't worked. Many of the states that claimed they wouldn't allow Marriage... are starting to allow civil unions.

It's a struggle, for sure... but Extremism never wins out for long. History shows their leaders become overly paranoid, due to their own deeds... and then, sooner or later, someone ends it for them.

You have to be kidding right?
Too Far???? We haven't gone far enough.
I agree some fanatical groups have gone off the deep end.
However, over all we are the ones who are getting our rights trampled. We can not even say Jesus without getting sued by somebody somewhere. Kids can bring guns to school and they get suspended bring a Bible and they get expelled.
We don't deny people their own religions we just want to have ours too. Everyone is so afraid to offend the minority that offending the majority isn't even given a second thought.
I ask you what is wrong with teaching kids that abstince is the safest sex, or that slaughtering a defenseless child for a few cells is wrong, or that homosexuality is a sin.
People simply do not like Christianity because we have a clear since of right and wrong with no gray area. People don't like authority or getting corrected.

How can u even suggest a theocracy when we have to cater to 14% of the country whining about every move we make. Heck the ACLU wont even help us out they rather defend NAMBLA's rights to preach that raping little boys and killing them is ok.

This country is founded on Christianity. The 10 Commandments are carved into the doors of the supreme court. Moses himself is carved at the top of one of the capital buildings. .

...I am a voting and somewhat politically active evangelical (aka American Christian), which seems to strike fear into the "hearts of men". I am not sure why. What is it you all really fear?
...Daniel Webster, the famous lawmaker, said that everything that makes a good Christian, makes a good citizen. Which of these next things to find particularly dangerous to our Republic?
...1. We desire and push for justice for all.
...2. We are allowed freedom of speech and assembly, like all citizens. I cannot help it if exercising my Constitutional rights upsets you.
...3. Yes, I oppose women in combat - there are other jobs that are more suitable for them in the military. Many other countries have tried and abandoned women in combat, because it didn't work as well. There are obviously dangers for women who are captured, like sexual abuse.
...Our country should be most concerned with readiness and optimal effectiveness with our military, rather than political correctness.
...4. Sexual intimacy is an intensely spiritual and sacred thing - it is much more than brushing your teeth, as some suggest. Sexual abstinence before marriage guarantees freedom from STDs - what a joy to teach my son God's superior ways, and to teach him he is more than an animal with impulses.
...In some studies, condoms fail up to 19% of the time, and I have been asked to give condoms to my kids and tell them "Good luck". I would not do such a foolish thing as that - no way.
...People who wish to engage in free and unbridled sex often suffer lifelong and life-threatening consequences, but if you follow God's law you won't. God's ways are not only the right thing, they are the smart thing to do.
...5. We support funding stem cell research that has shown promise - not from embryos. There is only so much reseach funding available, so what do you fund - untried stuff, or research that has shown promise?
...6. Planned parenthood is an oxymoron. They support abortion mills and wish to get repeat abortion customers. They would rather risk our kids getting STDs from being sexually active, than to be smart and push sexual abstinence before marriage (which would cut their funding, of course.)
...7. Women's "right to choose" leaves out a baby's right to be born. We support the most helpless of all humans, the unborn (and the elderly, and the mentally and physically handicapped.) How people can support the murder of the unborn, and the depraved practice known as "partial birth abortion", is incomprehensible to me. It is really a shame that some folks would rather remove those they consider "in the way" than to love and care for them, or else let someone else have them who will love and care for them.
...8. Homosexuality is unnatural and extremely unhealthy. Studies have shown that the average life span of a male homosexual is 41; another said 43. This cuts one's life span in half - how is this healthy for society? Tell me, sir/ma'am, how can you call this good, and want to force acceptance of it on everybody else?
...9. Who is forcing you to believe our way? Where is this happening? Many wish to silence Christian voices and/or confine our message to our church buildings - not me, brother, sister. Thank the Lord we can still express our thoughts and participate in the political process in this country.
...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be saved.
(Acts 16:31)
...Whosoever will, may come.

Many American Christians do yet many don't desire to become in contact Many concern ridicule and many look to make issues worse with the help of speaking ignorantly and /or hatefully Many do talk out and interpret and carry on with the Bible interior the easy of the Beatitudes yet many use(misuse the Bible) to do no longer something yet condemn people who do no longer accept as true with their one among 30,000+ interpretations of the Bible many don't take the warnings of Jesus and the Apostles heavily with reference to the reality of sin and that one can't sin grievously and "bypass to heaven' in unrepented and extreme sin merely because of the fact of 'as quickly as stored consistently stored" Christian isn't in basic terms as Christian believes or feels yet as Christian does in accordance to the classes of Jesus God Bless Jai

Yes. They point their fingers at others as a distraction so nobody will notice THEM having sex with children, and committing other atrocities themselves. What do you expect from people who worship a God who drowns, sickens and slaughters millions, and who commands his followers to torture and kill people?
