Mine is just now getting his first bed(racecar) at just turning 3yrs. We have a daybed in there but chose to let him sleep in his crib. He does sleep on the daybed some but we arent rushing it and didnt want to spend the $$ till we had to. As well as the space.
At his age he understands to wait for us to come get him. He has climbed out but is very good about not. As we told him not to. From our room we can see into his.
What is the rush to move baby into a big bed unless the crib is going to be used for a new baby. I cant imagine a 1yr old in a big bed. Imagine what they can get into at that age and not know better. Honestly, we didnt do it to corral him, just didnt feel that rushing him into a big bed was necessary.
Take the time if you want if that is the answer that you are looking for.
Good luck!

All my kids were around age 3. It depends on the child, but I would not recommend moving them until they can understand they need to stay in their bed at night, otherwise you'll be up and down all night. I think too many people rush out and put them in a bed if their child crawls out of their crib at night.... trust me, they'll be worse in a bed then. Get a crib tent to prevent them getting out of their crib if necessary.

My daughter was two. She started trying to climb out of the crib at about 22 months and we got her a regular twin bed for her second birthday.

It depends a lot on the individual child though. I know people whose kids stayed in cribs until close to three and others who were scrambling to get beds when their kids started to climb out of their cribs as early as 14 months or so.

I moved both my kids from the crib to the bed at 12months. They loved their little toddler bed and stayed in it until they were about 2 and half years old. Then I got bunk beds for them.

For my twins, they were really close to 2. About 22 months old. For us, it was done because they were able to climb out of their cribs and we were concerned one day when one of my sons got his foot stuck in the railing trying to climb out. I wish they were still in cribs unable to get out sometimes!! It was really hard to get the twins to stay in bed once they learned of their new "freedom" being able to just get up without the effort of climbing out. They still sometimes sneak up and try to escape their room. I think the age all depends on if the child is no longer staying in their crib, and when the parents feel ready. I have friends who put their children into toddler beds at 18 months, others have their children who are over 2 still in cribs. I think its personal choice and safety of the child.

We moved my daughter out at 16 months right after I had my second baby. Both my husband and I had time off work (obviously) and with a brand new baby we were up late at night anyways to be there when we heard her sneaking out of bed. We took shifts as to who was to go in there and redirect her back into bed. After the first night, success!

My two girls learned to climb out of their cage, I mean, crib, before they were even one! So, just to be safe, I put them in a twin bad and got one of those guard rails so they couldn't role out. My two boys were better, and I put them in their own twin beds when they were around two years old. It basically depends on the child.

My daughter refused to sleep in her cot, and so we let her sleep in our bed for a while. But with another baby on the way and her growing bigger, we've recently moved her into a bed. She's 2years 2months. Not that she settles in it by herself yet, but the fact she sleeps in it at all is a big improvement, lol.
