When you get a piercing, you must leave the initial jewelry in the hole for the duration of the healing period. Depending on what you have pierced, the piercer should have explained to you the aftercare process and how long you have to leave the jewelry in.
Usually for ear lobe piercings, to ensure proper healing, you leave the initial jewelry in place for 6-8 weeks and for the next 6 months to a year its advised you always wear jewelry to ensure the holes do not close up.
The only time metal can cause problems to healing piercings is if the jewelry is cheap metals/materials. Usually piercings are done with surgical grade stainless steel or titanium.

No, you have to leave the piercing they put in your ear for one week and then you can replace it with a piercing of your own. Don't take any chances you could get an infection or a keloid at the piercing site if you do anything too soon before you're healed properly.

I've done it on numerous occasions. The only part that may hurt a bit is removing the stud and trying to get the earing into that hole. Other than that mine are all good.

Yes. Normally you would get given some lotion at the time of the piercing to put on it to stop the ear getting infected.

Are you kidding? When you get a piercing, you HAVE to keep an earring in there, or it'll close up. It is an open wound and your body's natural defenses will kick in, trying to "fix" your body. When in doubt, as a professional piercer, not your mom or your friends.

Make sure you don't touch it a lot and, most important, keep it clean. Use hydrogen peroxide several times a day to do this.
Back in the day the studs they used to pierce with were metal, so yes. its okay.
