when i open roxio emc 7 a dialogue box appears trying to install DAO. I have to cancel it 3 times before it goes away. How do I stop DAO from trying to install?

DAO usually refers to Data Access Objects and is a small program that programmers use to access things like Visual Basic, Java, etc. It's also a way of recording a CD in which the disc is written all at once without interruption and without the recording laser turning off. DAO allows you to record separate tracks onto a CD without the audible gap between each track. This makes DAO recording easier to split long WAV mixes into smaller segments and burning each segment as a track on the CD.

From your question, I can't tell if the DAO that's trying to install is a necessary part of the Roxio package or if it's some kind of pop up ad from a 3rd party software company. You probably don't want to delete it if it's a part of Roxio's EMC. To be absolutely sure what it is, I'd contact Roxio and ask them. If they give you the go ahead to nuke it, they'll probably tell you how.
