There is an item that is called the "glassine slip" that is made for your negatives that will protect them against scratches and "buffing" --- any good camera supply store should be able to provide you with these in the size and quantity that you are needing and the price is usually quite nominal !!

As your first poster has already pointed out--- YES--- there are numerous scanners available that will allow you to scan in your negatives to your computer and then from there ---any good BURN program should have them on CD for you in a breeze !!
