Sleeping pills are amazing, but I don't want to get addicted to them.

I seem to be very jumpy and on edge, even when relaxing in bed hanging out...and then my brain starts to turn on and then i'm not asleep unil 4 or 5am.

If anyone knows of any good meditation exercise you can do alone in a room without watching a video tape or listening on CD, i'd be greatly appreciated. I'm not afraid of silence, but i'd rather be in my thoughts with music and not bring in outside influences.

I don't want to buy an instructional tape, but if you know of any good meditation or yoga or new age CDs, please let me know the titles and artists. Thanks!

See: http://www.relax7.com/7.php and the 2 techniques in the blogs of Shan Eris at www.myspace.com Exercise vigorously for 30 - 60 mns. daily, not within 2 hrs of bedtime. No coffee or tea within 6 hrs of bedtime. No loud music, TV, or anything exciting within 2 hrs of bedtime. Use your bed for sleeping only, unless you have a partner. Have a warm bath, with lavender oil, or a warm shower, just before bedtime, followed by a glass of very warm milk, or chamomile tea. If necessary, take Melatonin early in the evening, or Valerian root (from healthfood stores & some supermarkets), but don't make it a habit. Adopt the same pre-sleep routine every night. Read something boring for a while, then practice your relaxation method in bed, after lights out.

hm you can try exercising in the evening because then youre body will be worn out and maybe easier for you to sleep. don't take naps that will disrupt your sleep, stay away from caffeine, etc. before bed you could do some yoga stretches or just get in comfy clothes and do basic stretches...that should help p.s. I dont know of any names but if you just go to where they sell cds - target, wal mart etc they should have a section and maybe you can preview the cd
