What do you think about drivelines? Truck's a 1500 1/2 ton. Thinking Dana 44's, Dana 60's, or stick with current IFS set up? I plan on a 4" Rancho lift. If you ever have a question about real estate appraising...ask me :)

Are you building a crawler? Cause I'd have to say a turbo 400 or 700 with a steel transfer case, then absolutely put in solid axles, IFS isn't any good for flex, and with a lift your tires will sit at an angle and the bushings will wear out really fast. And if possible go with the Dana 60's, they're about the best all around axles.

The only newer transmission that is comparable to the turbo 400 trans is the 4L80E trans. They just recently started even using the 4L80E in the HUM V's in the military. Most of your current deisel trucks that GM has on the market these days and even if they are a 1/2 ton or 1 ton have a 4L80E trans in them. Unless you want to stick with a standard transmission.

Go with a TH400. Indestructable, but with 3 speeds, its not very efficient, but with 454, you obviously don't care for efficiency anyway.
