and it is not a peaceful book. It's history is not peaceful.
When i read it, it revealed to me a few things..
muhammeds life was not during a peaceful time.
It seems to me he lived almost a military life, which is why there
is so much reference to violence and hate of non-muslim, and his views of jihad is so twisted.
If i was a devout and dedicated muslim, following the footsteps of my prophet, would my views of islam and the rest of the world be the same as that of muhammed.
PS: this sentence really caught my attention: "and the stone said, behold oh muslim, there is a jew hinding behind me..."
that quote is not exactly right, but more or less.
If i was an extremist, am i not just following my prophets views and teachings(since the koran was written in a time of mental and physical warefare)?

you are a sad sad and confused person...
please...
(PLEASE)
please READ the quran completely (every last sentence...)
don't just read half...
the violence and it all is because during his time, it was done BY the pagan barbarians...
and the jews were against muslim at the same time...
have you ever heard of SELF DEFENCE?
(what? we muslim are allowed to be beaten to the death? ask yourself when the time comes ; bring yourself back in time to get that feeling called SURVIVAL)
does this mean that christians are allowed to barge in other countries with other religions that depict violence in the past even though it is self defence?
please, your accusations and assumptions are absurd...
islam is a beautiful religion...
LEARN from the people AND the quran...
only then you'll get the WHOLE picture...
salam!

You obviously didn't read the Qu'ran
That what you mentioned is a hadith, of which I have never seen a Scholar of Hadith grade it Authentic.
You really should read it fully, those who are liars come up with 6-12 verses out of context about war and fighting, without realizing that Islamic Law has some very strict rules about war. Which of course Al-Qaida and their deviant supporters are not fighting.
So getting back to the 12 verses (I am being charitable) out of 6666, that is .18% Less than 2/10 of a percent is about war and violence.

It's so sad to see people so ignorant of there own faiths history and pointing there fingers at others. Your god murdered every single creature on the earth because of sin. How are suicide bombers any different from yaweh? But of course the all knowing god just changed his mind on that issue. Weird isn't it that some all knowing god would suddenly change his mind it's almost as if he were actually human. Or that he was written about from a human perspective hmm.

I don't think there is an actual date that the Koran originated. Best estimate of the scholars that look into such say it was compiled during the 6th and 7th centuries...

Well, you can read pretty fast if you read the Quran in one day. What translation was it?
I think you were looking for bad things to criticise. There are some negative sounding statements about Jews because the local Jews and Muslims had some problems during Muhammad's life time. After making treaties with the Muslims to defend each other against the pagan Arabs, the Jews backed out and started making deals with the pagans. The negative statments are references to these problems.
I believe these negative statements about Jews are taken out of context and used by Muslim fanatic leaders; it's very unfortunate to say the least.
Other passages in the Quran refer to Jews and Christians as "People of the Book" along with Muslims.
The Old Testament is full of stories of violence, incest, infidelity and so on. Onan is punished by God for masturbating, because he didn't want to have sex with his brother's wife. Lot has sex with his two daughters. Joseph's brothers sell him into slavery. Esau sells his "birth right" for a bowl of soup. Abraham gives out his wife Sarah to have sex with other men. Later, Abraham abandons his own son Ismael. Noah's son "laughs at his father's nakedness" after he got drunk and passed out. Sounds pretty weird if you ask me.

Troll troll troll troll
I am Muslim
If there was a Jew hiding behind me I would not care about his ethnicity or religion. I would see a human being and treat him as I would anyone else. With respect.
Look into your heart and examine your reason for posting this kind of crud? Do you really think it makes the world a better place or are you acerbating the problem by creating further polarization of people?

Try reading the Qur'an without the bias and you may find that it is the truth and it is peaceful. Stop taking things out of context.

u cannot read the quran..u must look through it..its not a book that can be understood without a will..each sentence has it owns meaning, its like poem, u cannot simply read it u have to recyte it and get into it..that is the only way to understand it..u will not get lost into it..u will find more answers to more questions..this is quran speciality, people who didnt think wisely cannot understand it and will not be able to change it...when u read it, especially u who knew nothing about quran and islam, u will find its hard..u have to find someone who at least knew how to "read" it...the quote is not extremist, its never about extreme...seeing is not believing..its about inside of u..doesnt mean u didnt heard anything,it wasnt there..its spirituality and faith..read it again and this time find the translation with the meaning..even a muslim himself took years to open the mystery of quran..its like a box full with treasure,u have to learn how to make the key to open the box..to get the treasure..carrying it or looking at it(like u) will not give u any benefit..try again..all d best...its not wrong to search for answers but its wrong to use the wrong way on searching it..
"is it similar with one who knew with one who dont?theres benefit to whom who wise"...('',)
