P.S. I write poetry to/for them..and dedicate it on a well known site..and once a male nurse ,also a vet, asked if he could share my poetry with the veterans at his hospital...that made me feel really good! I hope that they liked my poem!!! I still continue to share poetry!

Let me say thank you. I think I just spat enough venom for the other BS on here and it is nice to actually read one that is good. Thank you for your support. You are a true American.

1) I would just try to tell them how much respect I have for them.

2) I would take pictures of the soliders & their families and make a video commerating all of them.

3) I would tell them that even though the world looks down on the war in Iraq, that I don't look down on the soliders for doing what they're doing.

I think soliders in general are looked on as being violent stupid people, not everyone feels this way of course but alot do. Doing something nice for these people might help to put their minds at ease.

Number one thing I would do is pray for their healing and comfort as well as that of their families.

Number two I would volunteer to babysit children while spouses visit in areas where children aren't allowe i.e. ICU and CCUs

Number three bring a prepared meal that only requires heating up for the family to lessing the stress they are already under.

Walter Reed Medical Center is always accepting donations of new clothing (t-shirts, track pants with zips at the legs for those who have leg braces, weight lifting gloves for those soldiers in wheel chairs) as well as phone cards, socks, underwear (for men and women), razors, etc.

Check the website for the address.

Saying a poem won't pay his bills. Write the people in Government and make the soldier so happy he will write a poem.

Pray for them. See if you can arrange a visit. Call Walter Reed, Bethesda or any of the VA hospitals. Tell them you care. Thank them. Bake for them. Any number of things.

You could contibute to Fisher House.

This works like the McDonald house.

Families of soldiers recovering in Military hospitals can stay in one of these houses, at little or no cost, to be with their family members.

VA hospitals have volunteers. Give a couple hours a month.

Look up web site for USO, See what they have .

the big thing is to make sure they dont feel forgotten (a card, a visit, a care package)...then, why not volunteer to help with their rehabilitation...last, offer to help their family out in some way...worry makes you sick, and relieving stress is a big factor in recovery
