Jimmy was a slave. He was drinking stump hole liquor..moonshine...cracked corn....
..nobody cared..he didn't care-- his master was dead--he probably caused his death and he was cracking corn liquor-getting drunk and didn't give a dam* and no one else did either..

It was Jimmy, and he kept doing it because he was finally aloud to after years of being a slave. That's why he kept doing it. Years of pent up corn crackin just came out of him. His Master was dead so he continued.
