I think it means that "your ex is a jerk and that you shouldn;t bother talking with him." Thats what I got out of it. Anyone else?

A good way to find out is to just come out and ask him. If not, theres nothing to lose and you can still be friends. If so, I guess you guys can start dating or w/e.

It doesnt mean he likes you because he's warning you about someone else. He could think the guy is no good and could be warning you because he doesn't want you to get hurt.
