Yes. $5k-$8k - thought that is just a guess.
Try women's organizations like NOW though that is probably too political or cancer survivor organizations - try googling them: "women's cancer survivor organizations and plastic surgery".
Best of Luck!

I am pretty sure insurance will pay for reconstruction no matter how long ago the original surgery. If you have a new health insurance provider you may have a waiting period due to the pre-existing factor. Of course you would have to pay deductibles etc. Tell her to give it a try-there's nothing to lose.
I had a mastectomy 16 years ago, no reconstruction, and, let me tell you, all the devices, protheses, can not substitute for a "real" or reconstructed breast. A woman who still has her breast cannot realize the problems encounted by a mastectomy patient. As to the surgery making cells run amok-c'mon-this is 2007, not the early 1900s! After all, a woman always has the option of changing her mind. Perhaps she is in a new relationship or applying for a job in which she will need a more confident appearance. Go for it, girl!

The only answer I can give you is a maybe. It won't be cheap if you have to pay for it, but some foundations and some surgeons donate their time and talents occasionally. The costs of getting her to where they are, and all that, is another matter.
Whether or not it can be rebuilt will depend on many factors. Not the least of which is her skin itself. Medications, and so many things come into play that only the docs can say after some tests and such if it can be done or not. I hope someone on here knows of the foundations and such that help with such things. I would have to wonder though, after all this time, is it really necessary? I mean isn't she used to dealing with it by now? Is it an esteem issue? Any way, good luck, hope you find what you need.

There is no reason she couldn't have reconstruction now especially today. Cost would vary.
Actually one of the best and cheapest places in the world for breast plastic surgery is Brazil. They do more boob jobs there in one day then US does in a month. boobs are a big deal there because of the nude beaches.
The cost of a ticket depending on the time of year could cost $500.rt the surgery approx $2000. us dollars with an in home stay there. There are places in foreign countries that ppl work with doctors patients for recovery in their home. Everyone I know that have done it just loves it.
It does takes some research and of course some checking and verifying but most can be done on line. But, that goes for US also.

NOT AT ALL IMPOSSIBLE. India is a place which is pregnant with all possibilities at contemporary international QUALITY and COSTS that might be one tenth to one fourth of what it could be in west. Actual costs can only be ascertained on physical examination of the patient.
Most importantly the success would depend on the single most important factor - "quality of surgeon / doctor" whom you choose and the infrastructure that is available in the form of equipments and pre & post operative medical care. This is the reason why you require the services of trust worthy and professional agency in INDIA which has adequate medical background and can completely understand your requirements and budget and then shortlist the probable options for "FLAP RECONSTRUCTION", as it is technically known. You can then decide and pick-n-choose from these options according to your preference and comfort.

I was told that insurance, no matter how long in between, has to pay for the surgery if it pertains to breast cancer. For example, I had my 1st mastectomy in 2004, and they still had to pay for the reconstruction when I had it in 2005.
Although if she is with a different insurance company now, I don't know how that would work. Good luck, you are doing such a kind thing!

Yes, the Government has again approved silicone implants. This is definitely cosmetic surgery and would not be covered by insurance. It also would be very painful. I suggest going to a medical supply company and be fitted for a prosthesis. I have two and feel very good about my appearance. Good luck.

See the primary question is safety. She is lucky to have survived without cancer for 20 years and now you perform another surgery there are many a chance to trigger off the inert cancer cells that may be available in her body. Hence for heaven's sake do not go for any cosmetic surgery and there are ample gadgets to camoflage the breast in the markets and she could use them.
