I have been looking into Nighthawk 1911 series, especially the GRP Recon version and wonder if it is worth the $2700. At the same time, I have a Kimber 1911 TLE/RL Custom II. Is it worth switching out as a duty weapon?

I've got - and carry - a Kimber Pro Carry. Tens of thousands of rounds (including after being dropped in the desert sands) and the only malfunctions happened due to reloaded ammunition and on day firing over 1,000 really cheap ammo loads and it gummed up. LOL

Never used a Nighthawk, so I can't speak to that - but I absolutely love and trust my Kimber.

I'm a huge fan of Kimbers... havn't had much experiance with Nighthawks. I have a Kimber Stainless II... pretty much their base model, but I love it. Hasn't malfunctioned once in over 1500 rounds, and great groupings.

You can't go wrong with the Kimber, for the price.
