"Religious doctrines are not the residue of experience or the final result of reflection. They are illusions, fulfillments of the oldest, strongest and most insistent wishes of mankind. The secret of their strength is the strength of these wishes." SIGMUND FREUD

Your thoughts on his views? This is for everyone to answer. I just thought this was an interesting statement and I was curious about what other people think?

I love when people say "it's just an opinion......but it's dead wrong"

Basically I agree. I would have worded it differenly myself, I would've been more specific as to the wishes and such, maybe I would have said "needs" instead of "wishes". (Depends on how you look at it) But basically hes right, in my opinion of course.

Sigmund had a oedipal complex. I don't think I can totally trust psychoanalysis to teach us anything except interesting case histories. His ideas of how behaviours were caused by infantile stages of development may be true to a certain extent, however, many of his conclusions were simply whack. Behavioural science has grown quite a bit since his day, thank God!

I believe in God, ma'am...
And i totally disagree with Mr.Freud statement. God Is The Greatest... and he does not need us, mere mortals, to make something happened.
God is THE ONLY ONE who decide whether one wish will become reality or not.
it's not because of the strength of the wishes or somebody who wishes it.
Sometimes even God didn't answers the prayers of the Prophets...
But Always remember this
If you really believe in God.... and you make a wish in a prayer....
And God says : "Yes", that means He'll give you whatever you wish in that prayer
If God says : "No", He'll give you something better than whatever you ask in your prayer.
And
If God says : "Wait", He'll grant your wishes with the Best Thing.

PEACE

sigmund freud was a servant of satan. his veiws on life are based on deceit, not on true science.

men do create their own theology,
but religion has created its own society of believers and liars.

true religion is undefiled if they care for the widows and the fatherless. but nothing exists that is pure and true.
