What if(this is not actually a mere hypothetical) a woman wants to abort the child in "her body" for no other reason than she doesn't like the unborn's gender.. How does that stand by you pro-choice folks?

How is the abortion on millions(this is no exaggeration) of unborn FEMALE children a pro-women's rights issue instead of being a disgrace?

You pro-abortionist love to cite the extremes of rape and incest "will someone please think of the poor rape victim, oh please won't you help her." Well let's just address the issue of UNCONDITIONAL abortion.. Right or Wrong?

"Give me liberty" I'm bewildered by your reponse sir.. Let me point out, just a few of your flaws..I don't doubt that there may be little difference in the birth rates male/female for India compared to the rest of the world. A few half a million in acountry with as you pointed out has One Billion, ands who's pyramid is more skewed towards those of child bearing years would make little difference. However, it is still half a million lives, and each life is more than a mere statistic. Secondly, you said that you noticed more "prosperous" countries abortion is used more often. Huh!? Surely you can't be insisting that there is a Causal Efffect!? YOU also make sure to point out that India is over populated, and so what!? Unless you are promoting abortion as a form of population control. Are you!? I Do realize there is a margin of error, but give the nature of the question it certain it woud be if anything 'underreported'.

Lastly you make the claim "Each time a government, social authority or church makes a law banning abortion, they condem 5 persons to death.." I not even sure what you are trying to say here.. It is like you have no training in data analysis or statistics whatsoever.. You also say that the"BIBLE" indicates I will be punished for being dishonest.. Oh no run away! I am being honest it is you who is deliberately distorting the facts to rationalize what is the elimination of Human Life... These threats of judgement, hellfire, and damnation may be effective against he conservative christians who normally post pro-life questions, whicxh you seem to obsesed at answering, but its not going to fly with me.. Abortion is so wrong and so self evident, that it can be opposed from a secular humanist standpoint , notice how I made no mention of religious beliefs watsoever..

No it's not right for any reason.

The whole "woman's right to choose" is a very simplistic and flawed philosophy in my opinion.
A female has a right to choose what she does with her body as long as it doesn't effect the rights of other livings beings. But when there is another living being in her body then that being also has "rights" that need to be respected.
And it doesn't matter how developed that human being is, as an infant is also undeveloped and no one says we have a right to kill it. (and you could say most adults don't have memories of being an infant, so they are not fully human). A person is a person regardless of the stage of development, and therefor deserves the same rights.

What I would like to know is how so many people can be so selfish as to believe they have a right to "choose" if another living being lives or dies, just because you think you deserve the "right" to choose to live your life the way you want regardless of your behavior.
You had a responsibility not to get pregnant in the first place, if you wanted to preserve the right to not give birth. Sex naturally leads to pregnancy. If you CHOOSE to get pregnant, they you CHOOSE to give rights to a new living being, and you are responsible to accept the consequences.

The only exceptions that seem valid to me are rape and when the life of the mother is in danger from the birth.

I went to the web sites you listed and found that what you say is entirely wrong. I checked the numbers on your site with a third party site https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/ and noticed several differences. I checked the birth rates and death rates along with the percentages of male/female births both world wide and in India. There was very little difference. I also noticed that in the more prosperous countries abortion is used more often. To me this indicated that the facts were way off in the article you cite and that in countries where abortion is frequent a better lifestyle is enjoyed. I also noticed that the population of India is a little over 1 billion and that 1 percent of one billion would be 10 million. It is common for errors of 3 percent to be expected in polls such as the one you cite. I would expect a variation of 30 million in your projection. I do not see where you take that into account.
I noticed that the work was done at a religious institution, that may be the reason for coming up with the answer you came up with. I hope not.
If you will look at the CIA worldbook you will find that in the countries that have common abortions, the people are more secure and have a better life than in countries that deny abortion. And the reason is simple. Each time a government, social authority or church makes a law banning abortion, they condem 5 persons to death. So naturally counties that are open to abortion have higher quality social systems and fewer social problems. Almost everything you say is untrue. The Bible indicates that persons such as yourself will be punished for being untruthful.
--- in response to your other dishonest postings----
You faint that you do not understand. You understand completely that your posting was dishonest, misleading and foolish. You have convinced only the blind that you have shed light on the subject. You are a deceiver of the truth.
You are also a murderer posing as a saviour. Each time you waste money saving a fetus, it is money that could be better used saving a living and wanted human. If you deny this, you are a fool.
As to whether or not you will burn in Hell for being deceitful--- don't worry, be happy. Your day will either come or not come.

-------
You are murdering children by not feeding them. You spend your time and money trying to "save" a fetus that is unwanted and is not a "child". When you strave children, you are a murderer. In many poor countries a child can be raised for 1 dollar a day. Dispite that low amount of money, millions upon millions die. If you did not waste your time trying to save 1 unwanted fetus you could save hundreds of wanted children (and you would be a hero), that are already alive. What you want though is to run everyone's life and kill children. At least that is the way you act.

Your final statement is typical thoughtless babble---- Of Course they are wanted, the mothers had a choice and kept them. I am for the mother choosing, I am not for unfettered abortion.

While I don't think that abortion is right for every case, it would be incredibly difficult to judge the "morality" of this issue. Simply saying that it should only be allowed for rape/incest cases would raise the number of false rape reports. Rape is very difficult to prove even with evidence like bruising, because some women like rougher sex.

In the clinic where I work we counsel each woman before she goes through with an abortion. It's a hard choice, but so is giving a child away, or choosing to parent a child. Every woman has a reason, and I'm sure there have been a few women who decide to abort for reasons that might be considered 'unethical', but we can never truly determine why a woman wants to have an abortion.

I was a victim of rape at a young age, and as a result I became pregnant. I chose abortion because it was what was best for me, and now I work to help other women. I'm not a pro-abortionist, I'm a realist. If we make abortion illegal there will be too many women who turn to unsafe means. What we need to do is fix the NEED for abortion. Teach children at a young age about proper safe-sex techniques and eradicate abstinence-only education.

Abortion as a whole is not a bad or wrong choice. So many want to say that it would be better to give the child away, but there are so many flaws with that. Below is information about the foster care and adoption systems in America.

Based on current AFCARS estimates released January 2005, there are approximately 590,000 children currently in foster care in the United States. (US HHS, 2000)

In America there are 295,734,134 people. Of that number, roughly half cannot adopt children due to sexual orientation, citizenship status, cost, credit history, arrests, and current inmate status. (Also, though it may not need to be said, over 450,000 sex offenders in America are also on the blocked-from-adoption list, with good reason) That leaves just about 147,867,067 who can legally adopt a child, if they fall into the correct categories among the adoptees. That means one in every 250 people needs to adopt a child for the foster system to rebuild itself. How many people do you know that want to adopt a child? There are so many men and women who are okay with adoption, but would never adopt a child. And do you know how much it costs Americans a year for the children already in foster care? 10 billion dollars.

I’m not saying never look into any other possibilities. If you know your child is going to be adopted, then by all means, don’t abort, it’s your CHOICE, and it should be. If you worry, look into information, talk with people, and know the facts. Don’t be shouting useless blather all over the place. Look it up, decided if you want to terminate or not. It’s about having the right to choose what you want. Abortion isn’t always the best choice, but the fact is, sometimes it’s the only good option.

While infants and babies are usually adopted readily, children age 4-18 are rarely adopted, especially when an infant is available. If abortions became illegal and the only option was adoption, it's likely millions of potential young children would grow up in foster-care, never knowing a good family.

Just a few things to think about.

What about a woman who has become pregnant through RAPE?
Yes, I am sure you will get a lot of posts about that ! But, it is the RIGHT FOR ANY WOMAN TO DO WHAT SHE WANTS WITH HER BODY! it is not up to fanatics, zealots, televangalists and anti abortion terrorists!
There are many reasons for an abortion - some are justified and some are not! Yet, what is obviously needed is a better awareness of contraception! YES CONTRACEPTION - wear a condom, take the pill!
Sadly there are some religious nutcases out there who do not approve of contraception - so once again we are being attacked by fanatics, zealots, televangalists and intolerant people!

I believe that abortion should be legal for any reason because children who won't get the love, and care they need in life, shouldn't be brought into this world. We have too many people in this world today that didn't get the love, and care that they needed when they were young. They will continue to suffer every day of their lives and cause many problems for other people.

IMO the only decent reason for abortion is to save the life of the mother.
I do understand some of the other reasoning, but to abort a child bacuase of it's sex is just wrong!

I don't believe that abortion is right based on the gender of the "unborn," but that doesn't detract from my belief that it is a woman's right to choose.

I may not agree with it, but it's not my choice.
