I live in SE Oklahoma and have for the past 5 years. I lived in Kansas until then and the summers were hot and humid, but not as bad as it is here. I'm at the point where the heat and humidity just infuriates me and I HATE summer anymore, just hate it! I am stuck in this hell hole until my kids graduate from high school in a few years. But after that, I am out of here! lol So someone please tell me a good place to go so I can start making plans, visiting, etc.

I prefer farm/ranch/rural areas surrounded by small towns but no more than 50 miles from a large city.

Northern California/Southern Oregon

I live in Northern California (Humboldt County) near the coast and the weather is pretty consistant here... not too hot and not too cold. Right where I live it's usual to get above 80 degrees in the summer, and unusual to go much below 40 degrees in the winter... yet we're within a 30 minute drive of 100 degree weather in the summer, and within a 30 minute drive of snow in the winter. It's a very secluded area, which does cause it's problems occassionally, but a very beautiful place. It might be what you had in mind. Look up Eureka (Dont live there) and Fortuna, California. Hope that helped.

BTW, if you have any issues about an economy driven largely by marijuana, this probably wouldn't be the best place to come.

High humidity accompanied with high temperature pushes the level of Discomfort Index. Although temperature has a role to play in how discomforting the weather is, humidity tends to make matters worse. Moderate humidity levels and temperature is the best combination.

New Mexico probably has the best all around weather not too hot in the summer not to cold in the winter, Arizona and Nevada are nice also but really warm in the summer months.
