A postal code is the same as a zip code, it identifies a specific building in the UK or a number of small buildings. If you know the address you can use the Royal Mail's Postcode Finder... http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/postcodefinder;jsessionid=GJ4RYQ5Y3QFQIFB2IGKUPLQUHRAYUQ2K;jsessionid=GJ4RYQ5Y3QFQIFB2IGKUPLQUHRAYUQ2K?catId=400145&gear=postcode

London is divided into different postal areas - NW for Northwest, WC for West central, S for South and so on. These areas are sub-divided into numbered areas so you get NW1, NW2, NW3 etc.

They're sub- divided again NW1 1, NW1 2, NW1 3 and finally sub-divided yet again - NW1 1AA, NW1 1AB and so on.

London does not have a postal code, individual streets have postal codes

To obtain a post code for any area in the UK you need the rest of the address. Each road/street/lane/drive/avenue in the UK has it's own postcode.

If you know an address in London then look here for the postcode...
