you can get a tattoo without parental consent when your 18 years old. eh i dont know why you cant do things when your underage either. Yes i agree with the idea of its your own body and such but i think its like the whole law thing with sex and stayin in school, and priecings and such. blah. government sucks. o wellz hope i helped.

Hey Ice Cube - 18.....and I may get a thumbs down from all the younger kids that want to get tattoos but be adult and handle the fact that someone disagrees with you. You may not like this answer but I'm 29 now...no, not that old...but my likes and intrests have vastly changed since I was only 17. Can you honestly say that you're going to like the same things when you get older that you do in HS??? Even graduating HS vs still being in HS. Whether you go to college or not, your life changes after you graduate from HS. It is illegal to tattoo a minor because you are still under your parents "wing" and mentally, although you prob feel that you are mature...you're not....
You're right about the fact that you're only potentially harming yourself but that's why the laws are partially put in place...to protect you from doing something like that.
Not against tattoos...I have one....but I agree with the fact that you need to be over 18...sorry sweets.

If a tattooist is willing to ink you without parental consent, he/she probably has dirty needles too, and tha's a real No No. A lot of nasty stuff is passed along with dirty needles, including AIDS and the Heps. Don't do it. Just wait until you're 18, and then you can do what you want without your parent's consent.

It's usually 18. I believe my hubby (when he wasn't of age) threatened his parents by telling them that he'd go to some "back alley" person for his tat if they didn't consent. They fell for it and allowed him to get his tattoo(s). I'm not saying that's good advice but sometimes people are pretty clever.

Yep. But it depends on the place. there is no law, but places still have their own rules. Some places may not wanna work with minors, but you shouldn't have problems cause you are 17.
