Stress.
A strong nose spray (the nerves run along the tope, inside of your jaw.)
A strong mouthwash - especially Listerine (25% alcohol level).
A strong toothpaste - for example, Crest ProCare. Look for a toothpaste that specifically targets sensitivity - like Sensodyne.
Or a cavity you can't see.
Sometimes, because a mouthwash will burn (as in leave small lacerations or aggravated spots) on your gums after a long period of use (you may not notice it right away, but only when it appears "out of the blue" to you), these will leave open pockets of sensitvity.

This issue occurs when the enamel of your teeth becomes thin which makes it easier for sugars, salts, acids, etc. to get through which causes pain. To relieve this problem you can either got to the dentist or by Sensidine toothpaste( a special toothpaste for sensitive teeth.)

normal wear and possible loss of the dentin in that particular area.
Comes from plaque/tarter, hot/cold drinks, age, loss of calcium, etc
Talk to your dentist. You may also have the start of a cavity.
