Ok, let me explain. me and my son were trying to figure another good one out............. was the color orange named after the fruit because they are the same color............. or was the fruit (the orange) named an orangeBECAUSE of it's color?

LOL.......... thanks for humoring us with your answers. Especially the "we dont call bananas yellows" one. My son was cracking up on that one.
And thank you for the genuine answers too. It was mostly a question made in fun but it really was a question that could truly have an answer too.

In the beginning there was color, then life started to form and these lives adopted colors. Some wanted to be green and some wanted to be orange. After they had a form and a color they wanted a name. Most thought long and hard for the best name to describe who they were. Then there was that "one". He was a lazy sort and didn't see why it mattered. So when it was his turn to speak up he had done no work on naming himself so he said "I am an orange". Thus citrus fruit was born.

The colour is named after the orange fruit. Before this was introduced to the English-speaking world, the colour was referred to (in Old English) as geoluhread, which translates into Modern English variously as yellow-red, yellowred, or yellored

The fruit came first, and the spanish adopted it as the name for the color sometime in the late 14th - early 15th century

No one is that retarted but if you must know befor there was fruit there were colors and ang somewhere some cloud in space had the couler orange.

i like this question. um, idk, but i would have to say the fruit. because who would name something a color? like, we don't call bananas yellows, or grass greens.
