Mmm. I reckon God's brain wasn't quite developed enough to think of something so advanced. It wasn't until we were introduced to the babel fish in Douglas Adam's brilliant "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" that it became clear that Jesus was never a prophet for the rest of the universe. Nothing could beat a babel fish. And certainly, only a dolphin God would have been able to conceive of this concept in the first place. Mmm. Hmm.

Because Human nature (unfortunately) is to destroy that which we fear or do not understand. During the time of Christ, No One would have listened to a fish. People then would have reacted the same way people today would if an intergalactic spaceship landed at the white house with real bonified aliens on board. An example would be H.G. Wells, the War of the World. In this Science Fiction Radio Broadcast, MANY people took their own lives out of fear, for they did not know it was Fiction.
Ironically, God did save human kind with a fish! Christ fed the multitudes with Bread and Fish until none were hungry. Besides, Life is not about Facts, Life is about our perceptions of the Facts.

can a fish feel the pain humans can? or understand our feelings? no, why would GOd send something that is totally irrelevent to humanity. Maybe if WE were fish he would send a fish.
Stupid question though I'm sure you knew that.

How dangerous is faith, anyhow?
It is important to understand how faith is a sentiment that, like all emotions, can lead one to irrational behavior. Emotions left unchecked by reason are dangerous. You can never be a reason-extremist and cause any harm to yourself or to others, but you can easily be a religious extremist and cause lots of problems.
Morality has to be discovered by reason. One cannot be moral by faith. One has to know what is for life and what is against it. Such knowledge can come only from reason.
Logical reasoning is the only tool we have to help us distinguish true from false and right from wrong. That's why logical reasoning is what makes it possible for one to be moral or immoral. One cannot be moral if one is irrational.

Somehow this reminds me of something from The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy...the book So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.
Good book: dolphins are smarter than us, and could speak our language if they really wanted to, they're just not that dumb.

Or how about a super-intelligent cow? A six-legged, talking cow that could sing and tap dance. That would have been cool.

Not too many people would listen to a fish... talking or not. Not to mention many of his followers were fishermen.
