Why would he give eternal punishment for finite misdeeds? I mean, even if you spend your time in hell and then look up to god and prayed for him to be let in your heart, it would, according to the Bible, God's Inspired word if not his own, that you still wouldn't be allowed into heaven.

So you're saying a span of time equal to 100 years sin at most, should be punished by 10^10^10^10^10^10^10... years of eternal hellfire, I need more than just a jumbled answer on perception

Alright guys, I don't think any of you understand the concept of infinity, we're talking about making the life of the universe look like the blink of an eye

I am an Atheist but I know the bible. No where in the bible does it say that any mortal will burn for eternity. It does say that the devil and his angels will burn forever. Since they are immortal they cannot die. It states that the wicked will be ashes under the feet of the rightous. The New Testament also states that no one has ever entered heaven. In Revelation it states that god will dwell with man, there will be no need of the sun because god will light the earth, heaven (the new city) will come down from heaven. The earth will be changed. The people here on earth will be "teachers" of gods way before the thousand year lock up of the devil ends and he is released again to decieve mankind.
I don't believe any of this but if you really try to study the bible you will realize that most traditional religions have it all wrong. That is have the bible interpreted wrong. Like I said , I don't believe any of it.
You know a group of men at the Nicene Council in 325 AD decided which "books" should be included in the bible. There are a lot of them that did not make it. Probably the ones that did not include scare tactics.

I do not believe temporary deeds earn infinite punishment. This is entirely unequivocal, and must then be a misunderstanding which I will try to explain why such a notion has come to the minds of men reading the Scriptures of various faiths.
The teachings that something which is hurtful as being eternally damnable is in reference to the those things are always less than ideal, and that every practitioner will be judged by them according to their own ability no matter the time. This is not the same as saying that those who have committed it once are ever guilty, for if their actions have changed, then they are no longer part of the people condemned for such things, but in regard to that act are considered a different person.
It is the fact that any action can be spoken of as the people of such deeds, and the people, who can change their deeds, can be spoken of in different contexts that people confuse into one, less finely discerning understanding.
So no, infinite condemnation does not exist for those who develop into that which is praiseworthy, only the stubbornly hurtful are condemned, until they too change their ways. This is because all things are progressed by their own potential to do better, and this is only an accidental feature of the One reality.

Ah, good question. What i believe is that the Jewish/christian God is simply describing Nature. nature is unforgiving, harsh and cruel. BUT, spiritually, I do tend to think there is a sort of karma, but I am still skeptical about that. I think we are given a conscience for a reason. I also believe that Jesus was Pantheist and not a god as many Christians would have you believe. Pantheism makes more sense to me than simply believing in vengeful gods etc. Just endeavor to be a good person and you cannot go wrong. That's basically what the Bible is all about hon. It's full of wisdom so i don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, i am just aware that it was written a LONG time ago. God is so omniscient that prayer is not needed i beleve!! God knows what is in your heart, but i believe that God is omnipresent and far bigger than any of us can ever conceive. It's a big stretch of the mind!!! Science is just as noble as religion, if not more because it is a quest for truth, and God is truth.

You must accept Christ while on earth.. If you were allowed to enter heaven after death while being in hell, everyone would believe! No one can say he doesn't exist after they've been to hell.
My thing is, if even the devil believes in God, then how can people not believe in God but believe in Satan?
Lets say that a friend came to you one day and said "Hey, don't leave the house today, someone is going to try to kill you", and you just blew it off and left the house anyways.. Someone kills you.. After you die, you say "Wow, that person was telling me the truth, I really was going to die today, I believe my friend now, I'm sorry for not believing earlier!"... Are you going to get a do over and come back to life because you realized the person was right? No..... It's somewhat the same with God.. His word tells us that sin equals death.. Therefore if we choose to live in sin and not allow Him into our lives even though He's told us the truth time and time again, we will have to suffer the consequences of our actions..
Jesus loves everyone and gives everyone multiple chances to come to know him.. We just are too caught up in everything else to listen..

Well, the idea of eternal hell is more of a scare tactic for conversion to Christianity. In the Bible, hell was more metaphorical than the literal sense. This isn't to say that I can guarantee hell doesn't exists, but in a better consistency, God punishes until you are free from sin. If not, then hell is just God's way of getting rid of you, as God's presence isn't in hell. If you were to believe God was loving, then you can probably assume the hell is not eternal.

because God is not only or even mostly defined as a loving God, even thought that is how most people try to define him, this is how we want to define him because that would put us into the best position. Instead think of God as the all powerfull judge who is responsible for handing out punishment for breaking the law. not only that but he does so in a way that is absolutly correct and right in every way. now the punishment for breaking the law is death, think of this as seperation from all things good for all time.
and wile you may think this is harsh for a little white lie or stealing some penny candy, look at sin this way all sin comes from a desire to be god ourself and so the worse part of sin is that we are trying in our own small way to upsett the throne of the king! we are traitors to the king an country, which is punishible by death in in country in the world to day includin ours! in this light the punishment is right on par. other thing is that you rairly meet a person who is serving there time who is not sorry, who does not want forgivness. but it is to late the deed is done. the more intresting thing is that inspite of all this, the fact that this is where we should all be ( in hell that is) for some reason the judge chose to make the ruling of death and then for those he chose(christens) he steped down off his bench and took the punishment that he had just declaired for us on himself, that is the realy cool part of the whole deal. we all deserve death but for some reason he chose to give some life and took our death on him self.

The fact is that Jesus warned of hell more than he spoke of heaven. The proof that there is a Loving God, is in the fact that he allowed His one and only Son to go to the cross, as a blood sacrifice for our sins. If there were no hell, then his son's death would have been for nothing. But, since everyone must accept the free gift of salvation for themselves, it puts your ultimate destiny squarely in your hands. I could offer you a million dollars, for you to use in any manner you choose. But, it is of no benefit to you, if you fail to believe the gift is real. If you denounce the gift, and, fail to claim it, it is still a gift. It is up to you. Leave the gift where it is, or receive it, and, reap the benefits. God has given all of us Free Will regarding the gift of eternal salvation. Accept the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ, and, receive Eternal Life, or not!

It's one of those troubling questions, isn't it? I guess I'll ask Him when I get up there. There's so many questions that one can only find the answer to upon reaching him, because man has a very finite mind, and is incapable of the same kind of thought process that God, being omniscient has.
That being said, I'm sure many here have an answer for you. Me, personally, I'm just going to ask God.
Oh, and I want to ask Him why all the really good food makes me fat. You know, that's just so aggravating. Guess it's true that He has a sense of humor.

it breaks Gods heart when we sin. if heaven has no sin how could we as sinners get in ? there's only one way and it is through JESUS HE took all of our sin on himself because GOD loves us.
think of it this way you commit a crime and some years go by you changed but you're found out! the judge says your bail is set at one million dollars you say but i don't have the money just then a man walks in with a million dollars to set you free how would you feel towards this man you mite feel thank full right?

God created man to love and to have us love Him. Before Adam disobeyed God and sinned, he was in perfect fellowship with God and the Garden of Eden was a Paradise like Heaven.
God told Adam not to eat of the fruit of the tree in the center of the garden because that fruit would cause him to have knowledge of evil and to die.
Adam chose to listen to Satan instead of God. Therefore his nature became sinful and he died. Adam caused us to inherit that sinful nature.
God, knowing that man would sin, had a plan already in progress. That plan was, to come to the earth as the man Jesus and become the sacrifice for all sin. Because Jesus is God's only begotten Son and perfect, He fit the requirement for that sacrifice.
God gave His Son's life for us. The Bible even says that Jesus, on the cross became our sins. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and repent (to turn away from) of our sins, then God forgives our sins.
God loves His Son. And after Jesus, willfully giving His life for us, the only way to enter Heaven is through Jesus.
Because God is both loving and just, He has given us a choice. He says that sin cannot enter Heaven. Either choose to be in Heaven with Him by choosing Jesus or choose not to be in Heaven by not choosing Jesus.
God won't make you choose either, it is your free choice.
