My teenage daughter had a professional facial done last week. The woman used a facial scrub and also extracted some blackheads, etc. Within a couple of days, the right side of her face had sort of a bad breakout - - - pimples/ whiteheads. It's been a week and her face is just now beginning to get better. Is this normal? Does a facial bring out impurities in the skin and cause this? Or was she allergic to whatever the woman used in the facial scrub?

It does bring out impurities, but for her next one be sure & explain to the facialist what happened. She may use a different product.
I am glad you are getting your daughter into good skin care early.
If you can keep this up every 4-6 weeks ,she will have a lifetime of beautiful skin.I wish other Mothers would do this!

Allergies to products react within 30 minutes- either by a red rash or/& itching.

Breaking out is quite normal after a facial. Whenever different products are used on skin, there is an adjustment to the new ingredients. Sadly it can be a side effect and one of the reasons to continue to go for facials because you keep the impurities cleaned out of the skin.
One way to help avoid the breakout is to have the facialist do a high frequency treatment during the facial. This treatment will kill any bacteria that gets stirred up that will cause a blemish. May not completely stop it, but it will help cut back on the break outs.
Another tip is to use the same product line that is used during the facial. Facial products should be aesthetician grade but if you use the same line, it will help the facial be more productive and less traumatic later.

No.

It just takes the top layer of skin off which is often dead. The bad breakout may have been because the pimples were deeper and were aggrivated by the facial, but once they are gone the face should be better.

I had some pimples when I was younger, the only thing that really helped was antibiotics from the doctor over 6 months and washing my face everyday. A facial was only a short term solution.
