As much as it might hurt, I'm going to tell you to not get TOO involved. Girls your daughter's age want to be independant and "grown up." My friend's sister is loves her grandma dearly, but won't let her be seem with her at school.
This is the key drive to what children her age see as "fun." A sense of independence.
( What I loved best about sleepovers was being away from my parents for a night. :D )
Let your daughter take her friends to do some fun activity, like making their own ice cream sundaes. They'll have a lot of fun customizing with syrup/sprinkles/cookies.
Also, a good [not too babyish] movie might be good, with a genre depending on their taste.
Anything where they could try doing things themselves, and enjoy a night away from home would be great. Keep it fun. and if you'd like to take pictures, have your daughter take them (if you trust her with a camera). Make the guests feel welcome, but understand that this is an event where your daughter wants to be the hostess, not you.

Make it a dance party, have cloths for them to dress in, have lots of music, old and new. Have them bring their music.
Decorate with balloons, and have popcorn, coke, candy for a movie before the dance.
During the movie fix up a room for a beach party bingo for them and have some sun lamps on for that part of the dance. Put some brown paper and beach towels and blanket down on the floor so it looks like the beach, maybe even a fake bond fire. Let them have some punch in a glass with those little umberalls in them. Get them some hats, sunglasses and have some of the beach toys ...they can take that home with them. If you can you can buy them all a beach towel, but only if you can.
Then after a few songs they can have their dance.
They could make up dances, have best dance, best dress, group dances, learn a new dance...what ever.
They could even judge the dances, have cards for them to hold up.

I have a 6 year old and a 10 year old. Girls that age love music. They also love doing things like crafty things. Using their creativity. Go to Familyfun.com and they have lots of party ideas, under age groups. Cool site. Good luck

12 year olds just want to "hangout" and go shopping. go to the store and get each girl a bottle of nail polish, a nail file and toe seperater thingies each in there own bag and give it to them after the Main party. Have your daughter give each girl a list of movies from blockbuster and have them vote for 2-3 they want to watch. and pick it up before the party. Get lots of junk food like gummy bears and chips to eat while they watch there movies and talk about who the cutest guy in class is. In all honesty have as little to do with interacting with them as much as possible. They want privacy and they will be happy.
