A few years ago, I knew of a guy in the States illegally. I called the sherriff in the county he was living in, and reported him. The sherriff then informed me that unless he had committed a felony, there's really nothing he could do. INS won't cover the cost of shipping him back unless he could be classified as "dangerous." So, in other words, until he's caught selling drugs or killing someone, he's here with no punishment for breaking the law.

try searching the Homeland Security website since bureau of immigration service falls under them.
I believe it is only a misdemeanor, should be a felony. Unfortunately, when we catch these people they are given a summons to appear before the judge, which they never show up and remain in our country illegally.

It is a misdemeanor but is most often prosecuted as an adminstrative offense because that costs less to prosecute.
If you return after being deported it is up to 10 years in jail, per the law, more if you returned after having been deported after a felony.

Usually they get sent back if they are caught. But in Houston, Texas the police do not care.
On the brighter side...women get pregnant and enter the US and have their babies here and don't have to learn the language.
Get welfare
medicare
food stamps

you can get deported and not allowed to return. if you have a wife and family in Mexico, if you are from there. you should go home to you wife a kids. there is a sight that the woman have posted asking Americans to send their husbands home to them, deport them if they have to. the woman in Mexico is learning to help provide for their family's. they are making Kraft's and doing good at it. I'm proud of them for doing it. god bless the Mexican woman in Mexico for doing a good job, and not running to America.
