My right eye is all red and has a pimple like white spot at the bottom of my pupil. It has been causing tearing and discomfort for almost a day! What kind of eye infection is this?

I wore contact lens to sleep the day before.

If you're describing this correctly, this is an extremely serious situation, and you have to get medical help IMMEDIATELY. Go to an emergency room. If you are describing it incorrectly because you don't know the correct names for the parts of the eye, you may have a stye. If it's very painful, you can visit the eye doctor, but there are also over-the-counter treatments for it.

Just so you know, the pupil is the black-looking "spot" in the center of the colored part (iris) of your eye. It's actually an opening that expands and contracts to control the amount of light entering your eye. It and your iris are covered by a clear part of your eye called the cornea. I don't even see how it's possible to have anything like a pimple in any of those areas, so if there is something there, it's most likely something else, but can certainly cause permanent damage to your eye, including blindness.

A stye, on the other hand, is a boil-like pimple that usually forms on the rim of your upper or lower lid, or sometimes inside the lid. It may be painful and unsightly, but it rarely interferes with your eye functions in any significant way. Eventually it will go away.

It's called a 'subconjuctival hemorrhage'. It is a small drop of blood from a broken blood vessel. There is nothing to worry about, it will probably SPREAD some (don't panic, that is normal) and then fade over the next 4-7 days. It can be spontaneous, or, from coughing, sneezing or straining. Regardless, it is completely benign and poses no threat to your eye. No treatment is needed.....just time.

I would always listen to the doctor. But if she hasnt helped you with what the problem is you may want another opinion. I would get another opinion also the doc should have wanted a follow up so you would know if you wee healed. I would expect a dr to want to check progress.
