She licks my hand everytime

This is her way of letting you know that she appreciates it when you pet her, and that she is doing the same for you. While cats cannot actually "pet" you in return, they show their affection and contentment in other forms of physical ways; such as purring, licking, and kneading. They also show affection by rubbing themselves against your legs (some even do a figure 8), and still others will let you know how they feel by the different ways that they meow. Many cats will roll over on their backs when spoken to lovingly.
These are some of the many ways that cats are able to "pet" you back.

With cats, preening is a social thing. Cats, within a family or group, will often lick each other and clean each other as a social interaction.
When you pet your cat, the cat sees that as you "licking" it. It returns the gesture by licking you.
Be happy. Your cat accepts you as part of it's group or family.

I'm going to guess that she is thanking you in her own way. Since you're doing her a favor by stroking her and making her purr, she thinks she is returning the favor by "grooming you" and licking your hand. She probably loves when she is in contact with you and wants to show her affection as well.

I think licking is a cats way of kissing, she is showing effection. My two cats do the same thing, also, they do like the taste of salt on your skin.

Its because she wants to say "thanks" for your love and care for the cat. She can't stroke you back as she knows she might scratch you so she wants to repay your love :)

Because she loves you. My cat does this all the time, she will even climb up in our face and like our chins and nose; we are convinced it is because she loves us so much.

She is programmed to feel your petting as a form of grooming. She's grooming you back

because she is possessed by the dessert creatures from the planet of Tatoine, they are telling her to lick your hand to collect the DNA nessecary to use to create their clone troops to fight the empire.
