You signed the papers allowing them to access your records.
They use them to be sure of pre-existing conditions, mental conditions & communicable dieases. These are things they need to be aware of & all military personal are not honest with them.

Part of the enlistment package are authorization paperwork that allows the military to do a background check on you. This includes medical information release form. When you need to get security clearance, that package has the same release forms. In general they don't look into medical records unless needed. The medical record that is built during basic training will follow you the rest of your career, and it is clearly marked Property of the U.S. Government.

In what way? Due to an investigation for a clearance? You sign the authorization. Because you want to enlist? They take your word for it and you go thru a medical exam. If you've lied and they find out, you can be stuck with a Courts-Martial and kicked out.
More information concerning this would be nice.

when you enlist, you sign a paper authorizing them full access. If you donlt sign this paper, you will be unable to enlist, even if you have no medical issues that would DQ you. If you LIE about any medical issues, they WILL find out and you will be given a fraudulent enlistment .

You give them that authority when you join. Any type of clearance and they will look at your records.

Military=government=do whatever they wish=if you don't like it that is just too bad=reasons unknown=xfiles
Look there is no reason or rhyme as to why the government does what they do dear. They do what they want when they want how they want. Of course they have authority..even when they don't have authority!

I think the military could bend any rules they want, but when there are so many people enlisting, they probably won't look twice at you.
