It wouldn't be fair to let China and India get away with no penalties for their addition to world pollution. While the Democrats might push for a carbon imprint tax, I would hope that the Republicans would prevent it from happening. Democrats are always in favor of taxes, how else do they gain control of the people?

Sorry Charlie--the human origins of the current global warming are proven. And pretending otherwise doesn't make it a topic for debate--it just makes you look foolish.

As for a "carbon tax"--let's start with a tax of $1000 per mpg under 20 mpg that a new car gets-added to the purchase price. And use the money to provide tax credits for shifts to alternative energies.

If they did pass such a tax, energy guzzling Al Gore would have a heck of a tax bill. Fortunately, the government will find other ways to tax you. Carbon imprint is a bit too inexact.

No, I don't even think they would be able to agree about what that term might mean. The more they talk about it the less likely they are to do anything about it except talk about it.
