I bought a beautiful baby afghan that I would like to hang in my room as a tapestry. I want to be very gentle with it. What methods do you recommend?

hey vigorous....

the afghan to which you refer is one that would begin with a capital "a".

the word, when it begins with a lower case "a", refers to a blanket.

S: (n) afghan (a blanket knitted or crocheted in strips or squares; sometimes used as a shawl)
S: (n) Afghan, Afghanistani (a native or inhabitant of Afghanistan)

lighten up a bit. there are far worse grammatical offences here online than the one above.

and just for fun, check out this website:

OH, and by the way Ms. Sweet? the dowel suggestion is probably the best one. make sure there's also a dowel on the bottom so that it hangs nicely and not sloppily. i'm sure it'll look fabulous. cheers.

If you have a Michaels craft store near you, talk to them. They have a dowel like fixture that goes on the wall to hold quilts and tapestries. What ever you do, dont tack or nail it up, as that will make it sag. You have to actually hang the whole end over a firm dowel or rod

I would never hang an afghan. I would suggest a shadow box. Put the afghan in, along with a favorite toy, booty, book, etc. Not only will it look great, but the afghan will not get dirty.

The wordings of the question are extremely offensive. I am not reporting you to Yahoo Answewrs team for abuse assuming that you are still culture blind. But not next time!

How would you feel if someone put up this question replacing "afghan" with your nationality?

Don't be stupid. Please be sensible. Why can't you just mention the place of origin with the item ie "afghn tapestry" or whatever? By the way, Cashmere is also NOT a pullover; it is 224788 km² disputed area in South Asian sub-continent between Pakistan and India with a population of about 10.75 milion people. A "Kashmiri shawl" or a "Kashmiri pullover" are known the world over for their quality and beauty.

The net is "World Wide" and that is why it is called www (world wide web). It is not something limited to your house, city, community or area.

Thank you "that's the truth". Your point taken. But please also note that the website you referred to is by, well not an Afghan. What may seem a light matter in your environment isn't necessarily the same in another. I was just trying to emphasize that really most of our existing problems in the world are because of ignorance or taking others and their beliefs and practices either lightly or in a vengeful manner. therefore, we should be careful that an extremist from any part of the world and from any culture or community does not misconstrue.
