Eric j, I asked for breeders to answer, not opinionated know-nothings, this is a world wide forum. Keep your judgments to yourselves. If you are not a breeder don't answer, I am not interested in your opinions!

We are former breeders of Dalmatians. We retired our dogs who had only mothered twice each before the inanimate version of 101 Dalmatians came to theaters. We weren't breeding them to keep up with latest fads.
Dalmatians are a fickle breed and they come with their share of problems... from being a bit deaf or possibly a bad temper. They have a pretty bad rep for aggressiveness and not being careful as to who we would let adopt our pups... well, we just took our girls off the market and spayed them instead. They're probably happier for it truthfully. They're both about 13 now and our youngest has never been bred. We spayed her right off.
There's quite a bit of homework that has to be done before agreeing to breed. You have to know the history... bloodlines of both the ****** and the sire, have to make sure they are in no way related, have to know who your adopters are and a bit of history about them, have to make plans with your vet, have to arrange finances around them for health, for food, for registering, for worming... yadda, yadda, yadda... cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching... Yes, it's a lot to think about isn't it. And that's not even all of it but people who choose to breed their dog, they kind of find out along the way just how much effort goes into breeding.
Whatever you're thinking... keep thinking.

I'm a "Rookie" German Shepherd Dog breeder and have a wonderful 4 y/o Brood B'itch Black and Tan with a great award winning Pedigree from both bloodlines of her parents. Her Mother is a Black and Red Czechoslovakian bred A.K.C (2nd Generation) and her Father is a 3rd Generation German bred American Black & Tan A.K.C.
My male is a 2 y/o U.K.C. American bred German Shepherd Dog from a long line of working Police Dogs that are on many Police Canine Units across Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Some have made it to other places.
I also have a wonderful AKC Black and Mohogany Rottweiler Bi'tch at 4 y/o and am in search of a good sire now to breed her with.
All my dogs have been OFA certified for their hips and elbows and they all received excellent scores.
I've done a lot of research and gotten well prepared, and sadly had a "false pregnancy" last January which many of you may know is and can be pretty common. Regardless; I had my hopes up for several weeks until I learned it was a false alarm.

I'm a breeder of small and toy dog breeds. I am currently breeding the Chihuahua, Maltese and Pug. I used to breed the Yorkshire Terrier and the Shih Tzu but decided that I should go on to breed other dogs to gain experience. Yes, I breed 3 different breeds but that does not make me a puppy mill. I have had my dogs screened from hereditary diseases and most have either been shown and have gained titles or has come from excellent, healthy show bloodlines. I have been breeding dogs now for over 20 years and love it.
My mom breeds the Chinese Crested, my sister breeds Shih Tzus and I have two other friends who breed dogs too (Siberian Husky, Standard Poodle & Bloodhound).
