Why do sometimes when I go to a website and click a link, my windows close it?

make sure the link isn't the x up in the upper righthand corner

There was a type of programming language called javascript that can close a window with a command:

javascript:window.close()

It can be added to a link, button and almost all type of element in HTML

It will not harm your computer and don't worry about that
