Right now I am an agnostic. I love childern and animals. I am an avid reader and strongly believe in peace. Those who believe in God of whatever religious strip seem to really get off on global domination and thought control. They clearly love wars and the acquisition of earthly domains and resourses no matter the cost. The also seem to enjoy deception as the main means of conveying false information to their flocks. If I become a God fearing man, how long do I have before my thought processes get screwed up in such a manner that honesty and integrity and love will no longer matter and I can join the global god culture and wallow in greed and self importance?

I never understood the concept of "god fearing" If the big guy can create the cosmos and simultaneously read the minds of billions of his people why does he need me cowering in fear of him. So he can feel better about himself?

Obviously you have not really studied the Christian faith. I am not talking about a particular denomination like Catholic, Protestant or Baptist (nothing against any of those, by the way) but studying the Word of God (the Bible). The Judeo-Christian God doesn't call us to do any of what you just said. We are told to spread His word and live by His commands and accept His Son's death on the Cross for our sins. That is all. In fact, the Bible teaches AGAINST storing up earthly wealth in lieu of spiritual wealth.

Now I agree with you on one point. There is a certain "thought control" process that is presented. However, THINK ABOUT IT, everything, no matter what belief system you use (even agnostism or atheism) will require you to think and act in a particular manner. The Bible, though, teaches compassion for your fellow human, forgiveness, generosity, self-sacrifice. Are these things bad?

I recognize the fact that there are plenty of bad apples within the Christian bunch. I often times fall into anger or impatience. But that doesn't mean that God the Father is wrong or Jesus is wrong or the Holy Spirit is wrong. It means that I am a sinner in much need of Jesus's death on the Cross and Resurrection. I need the forgiveness of my sins found at the Cross.

Finally as for global domination, Christians are called to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ but not by force as other religions (like Islam) do. We are called to fight evil which sometimes requires us to pick up a weapon but that is limited. If you will permit me one request, since you are an avid reader, read the WHOLE Bible and ask God to reveal Himself to you to prove He exists.

No matter what, you will be tested. We are all tested. You will run into brick walls. You will find yourself agreeing or disagreeing. In order to be "true to yourself" while at the same time being "true to God": .. . the two must be the same.

We all have our own "secret" beliefs, and we allow our selfs to be swayed by others. That, I think, is your main fear. That the "others" will take away what is the most secret thing in your heart. I'd pray about it if I were you, and make sure that thing in your heart is carved in rock, and not made of wind or water or fire, for all those things can be swayed and manipulated.

You have no idea what a believer is all about. You already have negative ideas about believers and God, so it may be hard for you to convince yourself or God that you desire Him in your life. It's not any of us that you need to ask, it's God. And until you get rid of these negative and wrong ideas about bellievers and God, I doubt if you will open yourself up to The Lord. The Lord will come into anyone's life if you ask Him to with SINCERITY. He knows YOUR heart. Prayer is just a conversation away from God.

"What will happen if I let God into my life?"

You will be able to see that faith in God has little to do with men's political greed for power. AND you will stop being so closed minded and arrogant.

Just make sure he co-signs your lease and throws in on the security deposit. He's been known to trash the place from time to time.
