I have a pit but when I tell anyone that they always say strange or scary or sad and he is perfectly fine!

here we go again. all it is is ignorance of the breed. people are scared of what they dont know or cant control. i own a pit bull to and get the same thing when people ask what breed she it. STOP PICKING ON PIT BULLS. If you raise them right they dont bite. Ive said this a million times but im more scared of small dogs than i am of any pit bull. you just got to know how to train, raise and treat them. They are very loving pets and people need to get with it and start realizing its the immature pricks that train them to fight and give them all a bad name.

I am with you...I have a five year old male pit, and he is great. He is my best friend and loyal companion.I have raised Max since he was two weeks old. I call myslef a responsible owner. Max is never outside unattended. He ia always on the leash. He is a big part of our family. Sleeps in bed with me every night. But then there are the owners out there that think that owning a pit make s them big and bad or something. Like I have always said, it is how the dog is raised. I once had a chow that was meaner. She hated everybody. Who cares what other people think about you aand your pit...you love him, that is all that matters. BAN THE DEED NOT THE BREED!

The thing is...you don't know if the pit bull was raised well or not raised well. So if you just see someone walking with a pit, you don't know how that dog was raised.
Pit bull owners... some can't be trusted and that's the truth.
Some irresponsible people own pit bulls.

they have a bad reputation as mauling dogs. there is a long history of pitt bull attacks but i have to say i'd think it more the owners fault than the dog. people will buy a perfectly nice dog and make it savage with the wrong training, lack of supervision, mistreatment, neglect etc. the thing with pitt bulls is that you have to be able to control them, that's all. Any dog can be savage if treated wrong but the pitt bull has the physical capability to do real harm with it's masive jaw and muscular build. I believe there is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners.

bad owners have ruined the reputation, you know the rule, "everybody suffers because of the mistakes of a few"
most PB owners are more ignorant of the breed than they think, that includes some of the people answering here.

because they are the #1 dog in attacking humans and other animals.instead of them just biting someone or something they will attack until somebody pulls them off.
