self sacrifice for a good cause is the great sacrifice, do something for the home/family, do something for the village, do something for the country and then do something for the nation - world and Universe. A man's growth is to that extent. We are deputed to earth for some errand by God and he has given us the privilege of taking decision up to 50% and the other half is under his control. Sacrificing for God is the greatest and lower it is the sacrifice for the cause of the Universe. (Environmental protection is one among these). But, a man's world and universe is his surroundings - the places where he can reach with his physical senses - tastable, touchable, smellable, audible and visible - and if everybody works for the cause in this way (of religion), the world would be pleasant than heaven.

Sacrifice is a relative term n thers no great level of sacrifice. when some one sacrifices willingly, its to derive a tangible or intangible gratification and beats the meaning of the word 'sacrifice' . there is nothing called a pure sacrifice as some thing is derived out of the very act! Its no sacrifice!
