I agree with you on that point....the 10 commandments are meant for our good...not a burden. they are a moral law for our happiness

Do you have to do the murder bit? I mean, the gesture of hospitality followed by the offer to provide my possessions with free storage, coupled with an admirable disregard for authority figures, that's all well and good, but the whole death thing, I'm not so hot on. As for lack of belief in the ten commandments, well, do you believe in anarchy? If so, how? How loyal an anarchist are you? Do you comply with every line of the Anarchist code of conduct?
I realise that this may not answer your question, but honestly mate, what're you expecting?

No, it means I can do it because I don't believe in them. If you believe in them, then YOU can't do it. This is silly of course. I don't need the ten commandments to tell me what is right or wrong. It's common sense. I'm an atheist and by the way I believe in 6 of the ten commandments. I just don't believe in the idiotic ones. Which are the idiotic ones? Here they are:
1- I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me.
2-You shall not make for yourself a graven image. You shall not bow down to them or serve them.
3-You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
4-Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
The other six are definitely rules to live by.

No - that's what would likely happen if YOU don't believe in the Ten Commandments. There are laws against stealing, murdering, and lying under oath. They didn't originate in the Bible.
Atheists already know how to behave and not hurt or kill people WITHOUT a sky fairy, book, or list. 'Tis a pity that religious types apparently don't.

You could try. The 10 commandments don't stop anything. People violate them all the time. And we have NO evidence of anyone ever being punished for breaking them.
In civilized parts of the world, we have public laws which punish people who commit such crimes. I believe the success rate of punishing such crimes is about 10billions times greater than the 10 commandments.

I get your point. You should also consider that the "God told me to" defense does not hold any water in a court of law.
After Moses came down from the mountain with the 10 Commandments, he saw that his people were worshiping false idols, to wit: A golden calf. Moses was so angry he threw the Tablets onto the ground and broke them.
Fortunately God had a replacement set.

It doesn't matter if you believe in the 10 commandments or not, they are still going to apply to everyone. If you say "I don't believe that the earth is real", do you think it's just going to disappear out from under your feet?

Only if you want to get stuffed.....I know people today do not believe in the Ten Commandments....it's a shame. People are more obsorbed in their own selfishness & have become very materialistic. People are loosing their faith in God. But there are still Laws.....Thank God for that.....

Huh?
Do you really think that the 10 Commandments are the only rules that prohibit those things? Don't get out much, do you?

The 10 Commandments were laws that came from a made up Deity. The Penal Code in my state is what would determine what charges you would face for your acts. The 10 commandments would be and are irrelevant.

That depends on rather you are totally unable to tell right from wrong, not rather you believe in a story that probably never even happened.
