What a shame! Can he go to a community college and live at home, still? He could continue work to contribute to his parents. It would be less hours and less money but his future is important! If they are really violent he needs to get out even if he doesn't go to college!! He should not have to live in fear. Tell him to get his priorities straight - Safety number one; College number two.

He can apply for student assistance and see what he can get. There are also lots of scholarships and grants out there. You can help him by doing some research on them for him. Talk to a guidance counselor or college assistance counselor. They can steer him in the right direction. Then he needs to just go!

If it's that bad he needs to get out and follow his dreams. However I feel the decision will be his alone in the end. He needs to step up or stop inflating the story. Best of luck in your pursuit.

He can apply for a student loan and work while he is a student. He should ask his guidance counselor for help and he can contact various colleges. His parents are cruel and nasty.

Tell him to grow up, move out, and escape! He needs to go where they can't find him if they are so abusive. He can go to college on his own, especially if he's already paying 'all their bills'. He can pay all his own bills.

They can't actually do anything to stop him. If he can afford to go then he should just go. Parents are supposed to support their children, not the other way around.
