Good roles: Building community, giving to charity!

Bad roles: Blocking medical research, starting wars, etc.

Unfortunately it does a lot more of the latter.

Religion is now even more complexed than u can ever imagine. The world is actually reaching to a point where ppl are using religion to their advantage. But i wun specify which religion is doing so.But there are some people that dun seem to understand that religion is a way of life. Not for any other purposes.Extremists are doing the wrong things here.Given some time, the world will really come to a tragic end.If ppl dun stop doing this hatred way of life.Religion must not affect the world in a negative way.Because definetly all religion tells us to love everyone and not hate them:)

I see it playing a role everywhere. Islam is spreading unchecked which directly threatens most of Europe. Atheist groups like the ACLU want to remove all acknowledgement of religion from the public square in the US (completely violating the 1st Amendment). Islamic secularist groups are the reason for most of the problems in Iraq at present. Europe is losing their Christian roots and turning to either agnostism or paganism.

IMO, religion was started as a form of government in the early days.
I sometimes wish we didnt have religion, but i know the world would be chaos without it.
I think religion is slowing down our process of human evolution. So many intelligent people rufuse to believe evolution, and other scientific things, because they choose to be blinded by narrow religious paths.

I strongly disagree in religion, but i strongly agree that it is the only way people have survived through the ages.

to put it all in a nutshel

As a platform to bring comfort to the Sick and Dying, the Homeless, the Abandoned Old Folks, the Abused... WITHOUT forcing dogma down their throats, these people have suffered enough without the religious adding more salt to the wound.

This was what The Late Great Mother Teresa had done, and her ministry continues to do in the name of her God. She said in her interview with an autobiographer who asked why she doesnt preach and convert people "... I convert people EVERYDAY. I convert a Christian to be a better Christian, a Hindu to be a better hindu or an Atheist to be a better person."

As a life preserver, keeping us from drowning in the cesspool of today's society.

Not to mention taking up the slack for Government Aid in a crisis. Church groups can always move faster than bureaucracy.

The contributions trickle down to the poor, that's it. Most goes to ostentatious living for the religious hierarchy. In 50 years it will be gone.
