Ok, I was diagnosed with diabetes in November of 2006. My doctor put me on a 1600 calorie diet, 45 carbs for breakfast, 60 carbs for lunch and dinner and 45 for an occasional snack, 6-7 ounces of protien, and 10-20 grams of fat a day. I'm 21 years old and I used to weigh 260-270, I am still 21 but i now weigh 180-190, By exercising 5 days a week and burning about 1000 calories. and eating whole grains/multigrains..If you go with this, dont eat chocolate....but eat it on occasion and pop as well.....you will stay at this weight range for a long time. I wish you luck and if you need any more help let me know.

Weight balance is a simple equation: if you eat the same amount of calories that you burn, your weight shouldn't change. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn per day using the calorie calculator http://www.straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html . This is the amount of calories you should also be eating everyday.
