Would it be appropriate for me to go hang out at his place if I feel I can trust him?

NO! Listen this guy can be any one. If you wanna be smart YOU choose a location, in public to for you and your friends to meet. Also let him know you can only be at this spot for a certain amount of time. That way he cant put on a nice face and bring you to another place of his choice.
If you like him, and he comes off ok, then slowly let down your guard but on future dates. The absolute last place you want to go is his house. My god, just think about what your saying here.

The answer is no i think...i mean you were just friends through chatting you know....anyone can fool you through that...and hanging out in his place might put you into danger...you can hangout with him in some other places like the park, mall, or a resto...that'll be better.

This is not a good plan If he likes you he will meet you somwhere well lit and with a lot of people around. don't go to his place.

Not on your life, and it could come to that. If you want to meet him, do it in a public place, where you have your own car. Get a friend to join you in you can.
It's always better to be safe, than sorry. Be cautious.
