Do any of the deer warning devices that are advertised actually work? I saw a report in which one was used to supposedly alert deer that a car was coming. In the demostration, the deer didn't even look up as the car drove right by it. If these collision avoidance don't work, is there any way to reduce your chances of running into deer and/or other animals?

Deer whistles you mean?

Ours have saved us MANY times. It's almost come down to the fact that a deer will just stop and look at us instead of running into the street.

My family has sworn by them for years and we've never hit a deer. Chance? Maybe. Luck? Maybe. Proof that it works? Perfect for us. We live in a heavily deer populated area too, so it's worked WELL.

We've seen deer about 4x/week during mating season, and our cars have yet to hit one.

Try and thi nk about what you would do if while you were eating and someoe came up behind you and blew a whistle. It would scare you to death, especially if you had your mind somewhere else. SOme claim good, some say bad. With over 3 million miles under my belt, I can honestly say that I have never used them, and have only had one encounter with a deer. Damned doe ran into the side of my truck!!! you will have many more opinions and advise from people, but put yourself in the animals hoofs and weigh all the possibilities of what would occur and make your decision from that. Hope your miles may be without animal incident.!!!!!

The warnings are designed to make the deer want to run. The problem lies in when the deer is already in the ditch and it runs across the road towards you rather than away from you. I take my chances without them.

No, those devices don't work at all, tried them. Instead of having to worry about advoiding them just get yourself a nice big brush guard. lol
