If god appeared and performed a series miracles, it's reasonable to assume that the people who believe in him would believe even stronger, and that many people who are agnostic, would change their minds.

Some atheists would believe too, but there would still be a huge number who would refuse to accept strictly on principle, or force of habit, or spite, or whatever. I would be one of them.

There would millions of people who, despite the miracles, would deny that he was "their god", and a huge number who would still doubt the miracles were real (such is the power of denial). A huge number would ignore the event altogether.

All in all, god would have NOTHING to lose, and everything to gain by appearing. The whole argument about him not appearing because he wants us to have free will to believe is b.s. because god's appearance wouldn't REMOVE free will, it would only make the god concept that much more compelling to people who like it.

The reason he doesn't appear is because........

Mere human reasoning is an insult to the wisdom of God.

...there is no such thing as ABSOLUTE proof. Like you say, some will believe their eyes, others will still doubt, and still others will refute it and argue it till death. Also remember, Humans are eaily fooled. Any sufficiently advanced science will be undistinguishable from magic. That was said by Arthur C Clarke. Any being sufficiently advanced can appear and do a major miracle and they would appear to be God. But it would be upto the person(s) witnessing the miracle to make their own decision. Could end up being the right decision or the wrong decision. Won't know till it's too late either way, right? Just my opinion.

Interesting, however God didn't perform miracles so you would believe, because if he attempted this he failed right? Since God cannot fail there must be another explanation of why the miracles were performed. It was merely to illustrate different teachings and prove scripture.

Further more you should read up on a study that shows that light can be created by sound. Who was it that spoke light into existence again? I think his name was Fred....oh wait it was God my bad.

God will not win you over by appearing to you. How can you see or know God when you cannot even view your hand in front of your face when the light is cut off?

Earl D has made the claim that the earth will come to an end. This is NOT supported by the Bible.
(Isaiah 45:18) For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: “I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.

(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.

(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

The earth will remain.

It is the bad tenants who will be removed.

In the Old testament he popped in all the time. He even haggled with Lot, made two sets of 10 commandments, but only appeared on the tops of mountains and places where no one in particular would run into him. The question is why if he would visit earth constantly back then why he stopped doing it with the burning bushes and all. The reason if he indeed used to appear but doesn't appear now..................?

BTW is faith a substitute for reason or common sense?

it is not time. He will appear and every eye shall see Him. And there will come a time when EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (God).
But for now, even if He did appear in physical form before your eyes - you would still not believe. Faith is not about "seeing" it is about "hearing." You would find some reason to say it wasn't Him, or was a hoax or an "alien" or something...anything but God. Those who are going to believe will believe without God being a "puppet on a string" and those who do not believe still would not believe even if they "saw" Him. They argued the same type of things in Jesus day. "Show us the Father and it will be sufficient for us to believe." Jesus said - you won't believe even if someone came back from the dead. And He proved it by raising Lazarus from the dead and Resurrecting Himself. In general they did not believe (1 or 2 did at the raising of Lazarus, but many of them went and told the Pharasees just to cause trouble and the Pharasees themselves did not believe). And when Jesus Resurrected they bribed the soldiers to lie about the event and to this day many people believe that lie and do not believe the truth of Christ. So why should God "materialize" when it wouldn't change your heart anyway? He has given TONS of evidence of His reality, power, Living Word and love --- if that won't "convince" you, His "material" presence won't convince you.

Never heard of any argument about God not appearing because he wants us to have free will. You must have misinterpretted that one.

To admit that if a fact were in your face, you would still deny it out of spite, does not say anything good about your reasoning facilities.

Unfortunately for such spiteful people, God is more interested in your faith than your knowledge.

You claim in your question that even if you witnessed a miracle you would not believe based on "principle, or force of habit, or spite, or whatever." Do you not see that that is exactly what is taking place right now? So in refuting God's existence, you are only stating that He does exist but you refuse to believe. Your logic is flawed.

well if he actually did appear to you, you wouldn't even believe it was him, you would probably say that it was a figment of your imagination and call your local news station as say you saw an apparition or something... If the only thing that is standing between you and a walk with God is just having him appear to you, he shall. But if your not gonna believe-what's the point?

He made one appearance already...we rejected and murdered Him...He used His death as a means of salvation to all who would come to Him. This was- Jesus as, "The Lamb of God"

He will appear again..very soon...This time with fire in his eyes
and as,"The Lion of the tribe of Judah"

God is by no means imaginary, those that deny His existance live in an imaginary world.

To ignore God because of a desire to live in the lust of world and to pursue life on our own terms (knowing the consequenses),to be sure is extreme foolishness.
To deny His very existance?...a whole new level

Here's the bottom line. The END of the world is coming. IT IS ENEVITABLE.

There are 6 billion today, by 2100 there will be 12-18 billion, by 2200 there will be close to 40 billion.

We have only the Moon and Mars and possible a few moons of Jupter or Saturn to occupy before WE RUN OUT OF SPACE OUT OF RESOURCES (Oil is up in the year 2050 at our current rate of consumption, how will you drive your car then!)

MAN, unless a PLAUGE hits us, will OVER RUN this solar system by the year 2500.

To go beyond here means we must go half the speed of light or learn to jump space and time or WE RUN OUT OF EVEYTHING.

Hence the END in enevitable.

When the END happens GOD will or WILL NOT return.

THEN we will know for sure.

If NO God comes, we will perish.

If GOD comes, we will know.
