Stop him. Obesity is rampant today and he is heading in that direction. It is you and your spouses job to guide him to healthier choices.

Ideally, you should eat 7 times a day, but eat small portions. That keeps your metabolism going without making you feel heavy. All athletes I know eat like that- eat small portions, but often.
Eating 6-7 small meals is much healthier than eating 3 large meals.
However, if he is eating 7 large meals, and is obese, then he has a problem. Maybe you can try talking to him without calling him a glut.

I think it's actually fine to eat 7 times a day as long as you are eating smaller portions. It would be much healthier to do this than to eat 3 or 4 large meals. I would be willing to bet, however, that he's just doing it because he's bored. I do the same thing sometimes even though I know I'm not hungry.

i think hes counting snacks between every meal and another one right before bed. is he really active? if he is he may be burning up alot of energy therfore he might fell hungry all the time? does it eat alot at one time or just snack all day long? you really only need to eat 3 times a day breakfest, lunch and dinner. make sure that you make enough food to have some left overs. and if he says hes hungry in between meals warm up the left overs or tell him to wait until the next meal. eating junk food with sugar will also make you hungry for more food. always serve fruit or veggies as snacks and avoid foods with high sugar content. and 100% juices are the best.

Because eating 7 small, healthy meals is actually healtheir then eating 3 or 4 meals a day. It keeps your digestive system working and you are able to use the nutrients better.
If he has a gut, sounds like he has been having 2 meals a day (that you cook) plus 5 other high fat, high carb "meals".

First of all kids need ALOT of calories, more than adults because they are burning them to grow as well as live. Secondly, he's right. To maintain even blood sugar, several small meals a day is better than three huge meals a day.
My 12 year old eats probably twice what I do, and he's not really a glutton. He's just hungry. Of course, if you are limiting how much he can eat, it probably makes matters worse, because now eating is emotional rather than physically based.

People SHOULD eat 6-7 smaller meals a day rather then 3 larger ones. That way, blood sugar is kept more level rather then spiking.

kids only need to eat 5 times a day. breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and tea.
All should be healthy (occasional junk okay). If he is active he may need more but try to make meals that have carbs so he is full for longer and has the slow release energy
