I was bench pressing today, but after I finished my sets, my chest did not feel "tired" or "sore" at all. However, when I'm actually doing the bench press, my chest really feels it, but immediatly following my conclusion, it isn't really sore. Does this happen with peoplke? How come I don't feel sore afterwards?

with bench press...i bench as many sets as i can before i can not possibly go one further...but my chest does not feel sore immediatly following it (you know how if you do an exercise, the muslce is sore afterwards). I know that it will probably be sore the next day but I dont know why there isnt any immediate soreness like with other muscles?

the soreness that usually accompanies resistance training is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). DOMS is usually most prevalent 24-48 hours after a resistance training session. the exact cause is not know although it is has nothing to do with lactic acid. it is suspected to be caused by the combination of microtrauma to skeletal muscle and the disruption of calcium homeostasis in the muscle cell

2 things. You are getting close to your max output, but bot pushing it far enough to make the muscle sore. Basically you are just maintaining, and you need to break that rut if you want to grow.

The pain of sore muscles is usually lactic acid, and swelling, which can take a while to develop.

the metabolites of muscle breakdown, and lactic acid from anaerobic cellular respiration will cause soreness in most peoples' muscles 24 to 48 hours after the workout.
