Except to say Thank you! The additional details I added while the answering was taking place seemed to be ignored by several people. I am not a Christian by faith, but some of my family members are. They are arguing about weather or not my sister will make it to heaven or if she'll go to hell, and my heart is saddened over not only her suicide, but their lack of understanding.

I'm so sorry to learn of your sister's passing Buttercup. Please accept my condolences, this must be awful for you. I'm not exactly sure just what it is that I believe, but I do feel that people who endure what your sister did have a free ticket to heaven. The others in your family are arguing and appearing insensitve because they are hurting dear. I understand, I've been there. Suicide is hard on everyone. The best thing you can do is take it one day at a time. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I missed your earlier question, buttercup, but I just wanted to extend my condolences. I hope that those who in this life suffered enough to want to leave it will be welcomed into the loving arms of whatever Gods may be, if Gods exist at all. I truly wish there was something I could say that would take some of your pain away.

I'm sorry for your loss but to answer your question honestly...
Not all mental illness effects your mind enough to take away free will.
Besides which, if you believe or don't believe, there is nothing you or your family can do about it. It seems it is just making one tragedy harder than it already is. You guys just need to let it go and mourn your sister.
And why did I get voted down for this? All I said was to let it go because it is making the situation harder and there is no definitive answer for it.
