how to make a messy bun with very thin air?

i try to make one but it always looks like the bun sticking way out and it looks weird... how do i do one with thin air???

try not to make a bun necessarily. The way i make my hair in a messy "bun" is to make two loops... take your hair through the ponytail holder once, then on the second pass dont bring the hair all the way through, catch some hair in a loop type thing, then do it again cutting the first loop in half. i know it sounds confusing but its fast and free... good luck

You might go to a beauty supply store and buy a "bun form" it is shaped like a doughnut...and you put your hair through the hole and then poke the hair all around the round puffy areas. It's hard to explain but you can see how easy it is after you see it. Also you might ask the sales person what gel would help you for thin hair. Some products give you more volume and it would stay in place.

1) put hair in a ponytail
2)put another hair rubberband around your hair so it folds in half and leaves ends sticking out of the bottom
3) take hairspray, spray it over the bun only
4) before hairspray dries, take a comb and run it backwards through the bun

I have finer hair too. I use lots of hairspray because it adds more volume and I back comb. The back combing adds oophm. Use a good hair spray because this will help. A great one is TIGI's hard head.
