I notice that I'm only depressed in the winter. Summer rolls around and I either forget or don't care about what had made me depressed. Is it a seasonal thing?

Yes. Lots of people only get depressed at certain times of the year. It is called seasonal effective disorder. Many people believe that getting more sunlight during the winter can help minimize the effects of this type of depression.

it make total sense. i know a few people who are depressed in the winter time, and just want to hibernate until spring. i am kind of like that too, i find i miss more school in the winter because i don't want to get up when it is still dark outside and freeze waiting for my car to warm up. it is totally normal. sunshine actually makes people feel better, and there is less daylight hours in the winter than there is in the summer. so when summer roles around and the sun is shinning bright when you wake up in the morning it actually makes you feel better, than getting up and it being dark and cold.

Yes, it's called S.A.D. it stands for seasonal affective disorder. It's from reduced sunlight reaching the pineal gland. You can buy lamps that give the full spectrum of light like the sun does, and sit under it for a certain amount of time each day to relieve the problem/

Most likely, Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD. Yes, many have it, from last of sunlight. You need some vitamin D (take it with calcium for absorption and not with vitamin C). Get as much sunlight as you can. Eat healthy; no fatty foods, limit alcohol. Get exercise.

I have read that a lack of sunlight in the winter (gray over-cast)is know for causing depression. They sell special lights that are supposed to help with that.

look up Seasonal Affective Disorder. The lack of sunlight and shortened days decreases your body's production of certain chemicals that improve your mood.
