Sunscreen provides only partial protection from the sun. In order to fully protect yourself, stay out of the sun when it is strongest, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and wear long sleeves, a hat, and sunglasses. Don't make the mistake of thinking that if you slather on sunscreen, you can bake in the sun.

Wear a long sleeve shirt when you are out in the sun and a wide brimmed hat. You want to protect your face and shoulders.
If you notice any kind of mole or other suspicious mark that wasn't there before see a dermatologist. It won't take long and he could advise you on what to look for.
Obviously no tanning booths.

Stay inside when the sun is the strongest. Look at your shadow. If it is longer than your hight, take cover. Also wear sunglasses that block out UV rays and wear long sleeves and stuff like that.

You can use a hat or an umbrella.
