I've heard several of you ask why God doesn't show Himself or prove Himself to the world. This is why. 1Cor 1:21-22
"Since God in is wisdom saw to it that the world would never find Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save all who believe. God's way seems foolish to the Jews because they want a sign from heaven to prove it is true."
Please don't think that science goes against the bible. Only creationalist Christians believe that. Evolution fits perfectly with the creation account in Genesis.
Could you consider the possibility that there may be a God that created the system of evolution that created man?

Ichthyic - I don't think spiritual things evolve. Truth will always be truth. It will never evolve into a lie and I think that's true of evil, too.

Lois_the_Apostate - Evolution really does coincide beautifully with the bible. You are right that people back then didn't understand about science or the world being round etc. That just proves all the more that it had to be written by God.

Dr. Sabetudo - Only creationalists believe that God created everything in 6 twenty four hour days but Peter says in 2Pet, "A day to the Lord is as a thousand years..." and that may be an expression of an even larger amount of time.

I believe that God used the process of evolution to bring us all into being. I think that the author of Genesis was not capable of understanding the details of how God created everything, so God gave him a more simplistic story. Early man could never have conceived of billions of years, so the timeline was written in a unit that he knew -- days. There would have been no possible way that mankind, during the time that the Bible was written -- could have understood how the sun, moon, and stars came to be, so God said that he simply spoke them into being. I think that forming man from the dirt of earth is a metaphor for bringing us forth from what was already here ...
Just as God expects us to grow in knowledge individually, he expects us as a race to grow as well. I view science as a gift from God, meant to give us more information about how he created everything, and we learn more over time, as we are ready to understand it. Science and faith can compliment each other beautifully, if you are open-minded enough to see it.

Is theistic evolution a possibility? I suppose.
However, your quote is merely an excuse given by someone else for God not showing his face.
If your God has the power to convince all of humanity of his existence, then why not do it? It would almost certainly bring in a whole new crop of believers. Such an event would in all likelyhood "save" humanity from the Hell that he created to dispose of those who don't believe in him.
Why should I believe the heavily superstitious claims of a religion founded by desert nomads in the late stone age? The unsubstantiated claims of a book are not enough...especially when many of the book's claims are a) virtually impossible in the real world and b), don't have a scrap of evidence to support them. Why does God want to play the "Trust Me" game when supposedly invaluable human souls are on the line?
Why does your God act exactly like a being that does not exist?

Evolution does NOT fit perfectly with Genesis, and science is NOT in agreement with the Bible. The Bible was written by people who had no science, therefore they had no concept of the world being billions of years old and all life evolving over long periods of time. They believed the Earth was a flat disk, that it was upheld on pillars, that the sky was a gigantic dome overhead, that the stars, planets, moon, and sun were small objects embedded in the dome, that they could be reached if you built a tall enough tower. Their idea of the universe most assuredly bore no resemblance to the universe you understand through science. Their world was small, their comprehension of natural processes nearly nonexistent. Everything happened by magic or the will of the gods.
The Bible tells us that all of humanity began with one man and one woman in a mystical garden with two magical trees and a talking snake! You really expect people to take that seriously and try to fit it in with what science tells us about the origins of life??
The Bible says the sun and moon stood still at God's command. This is perfectly in keeping with a culture that believed the sun and moon to be moveable objects on a solid dome, but it is NOT in keeping with what scientific observation tells us. Come on, do you really believe that junk in the Bible? For real?
The Bible tells us that a guy named Balaam had a conversation with his donkey. A talking donkey! And you want me to believe the Bible coincides with science?? I don't know how you can accept all those silly fables with a straight face. You might as well admit that you believe in Santa. I mean, flying reindeer are every bit as believable as talking donkeys, right?

Religion is based on faith. I am not someone who can accept things passed on through divine revelation. I can accept that you are and that religion works for you. I would consider any evidence for God but the burden of proof is on those making the claim. I know many theists who believe God is the force that set evolution in motion. There is much that we don't know about the origins of life. I am okay with saying I don't think anyone can know for sure but not with making the stretch to say since we don't know it is a supernatural being. Peace.

The book of Genesis describes that God created the Heavens and light in a matter of seven days.
However, when it comes to man, it took him forever, through evolution. Millions and millios of years.
If man was the final purpose, I wonder why it took him so long. I will wait until I learn it from someone who can read God's mind. There are plenty of those.

I am an atheist, but I (like many atheists) believe in the awe of nature's complexity and diversity. I believe this universe we live in is a fantastic place. If you want to call this "God" you can (as Einstein did) but I do not believe in the idea that "God" is some concious entity that created the universe with a purpose. My "God" is simply the description of the processes that allow life to occur.
My God does not love me, but I am struck everyday by the beauty it has created.

i thought miracles happen everyday? thats what some christians have told me anyway. the fact is a nonexisting thing can't prove that it exist... throughout time people figured that everything happened becasue of god, praying for rain or for someone to get better, then we learned about cloud functions and the immune system.

People alway's look for a scapegoat and a way out. God's that. If people believed in God then they would have to follow his word (no sex before marriage, no drinking, no watching Friends) and there are even those who "follow" him but say he didn't REALLY intend for you to wait for sex, or that drinking is okay as long as you're not one of those nasty alcoholics. People want freedom, they don't want to be restrained. IN MY OPINION (MINE!!!), people use atheisum and scientology as a scapegoat.
I just want you to think about one thing, if we weren't created by some higher being, then how do we know what's right and what's wrong? Where did we pull laws from? We are not THAT smart.

If God showed himself, then human affairs as well as the affairs of the entire universe would spontaneously halt, there would be no more reason to live or exist in our present format, beyond that event in time.
This event will occur one day, and only God knows when it will happen. It is referred to us primarily as "Judgment Day" when all all deeds are frozen, and human beings will be judged according to their deeds. God will appear to the righteous on that day...

Ask yourself this, "Why would God create Evolution but not follow its process himself?"
Evolution is simplicity evolving into complexity.
God is a complicated being. Wouldn't he have evolved from simplicty also? If not then he... what? Has existed forever? Just WILLED himself into existence? Then why can't the universe have existed forever? Why must it have a creator who's existed forever?
THINK!
