Ive been working on a project for school and its comparing bulimia and anorexia and the two effects both of them give out and i was wondering which works best and wat most people use as "gag" triggers. I had a friend who once tried this but i'd feel really violated if someone were to ask me something like that so i decided to look for answers on here.

can anyone help me out?

they're both a psychological problem.
If you think u're that fat that u'll put your body under so much stress and being very unhealty later on but earlier than most people, than it's a problem.

i was bulimic up to the point where i threw up instantly when i put food in my mouth. When i got treatment for it because i was dropping pounds like mad and causing all sorts of problems with my body, (stomach ulcers, headaches, looking so skinny it was ugly, chest pains, lethargic) it was torturous. I'm glad i'm healthy again. I'd rather be a lil chubby now than having to swallow 20 pills when i'm 35 because my body is shutting down from all the trauma ehile being bulimic or anorexic.

I'm sorry if i didn't quite answer your question but i felt a need to give out my 2 cents from experience.

good luck in your project tho

Anorexia is most effective at weight loss, if thats what you mean- while bulimia tends to cause a peson to stay the same weight.
In terms of being able to do either-- anorexia is harder to do because people "see' it and try to intervene.
Bulimia can carry on through a persons life and even those closest to them will NOT know.
Both are very dangerous to do; but I think anorexia is much more dangerous physically- as well as mentally. It is much more rapid in harming your health than bulimia.

Gag measures, my measure is simply my pointer finger of my dominant (right) hand. I have learned how to throw up "silently", both vocally speaking as well as into the toilet- its a good trick to place toilet tissue or paper towel onto the surface of the water so theres no splashing. Also, this makes flushing more effective, because instead of making a mess in the toilet bowl itself, the throwup is on the paper and flushes away with the paper.

I was anorexic before, I still have sporadic issues with throwing up (as you migh tell). Also laxative use. I dont use stimulant ones, though- only Senna tablets. How much depends on what I've eaten.

Oh yeah but anorexia is very dangerous because believe it or not, you can be very stable-minded before going in, but once you are 'hooked' it really DOES take control over you. Plus, your mind is effected due to starvation. It is a rapid, rapid spiral downward- it really takes a grip on you. At first, you have it but then it has you. It was really scary! Bulimia is "easier" in the sense that this doesnt happen; but then, you dont have any weight loss.

Works better for what? Early death?

Steven is incorrect; both Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa are recognized eating disorders according the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). Eating disorders are a form of mental disorder.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Don't know if there is any literature out there that compares both. I can't also really say if which works better. I don't think it's a matter of which. Both are just as deadly.

bulimia rots your teeth faster, anorexia seems more obvious(you can only say i'm not hungry so much before people start to wonder)
i guess it's a matter of personal preference.

I know it's been answered, a LONG time ago. But if you want to see two aspects of eating disorders and their outcomes read Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

no, it doesnt work because most of the same calories stay in the stomach of the bulimia. also, bulima (throwing up the food) will cause your teeth to become yellow.

Neither one works, I used to have anorexia and it made me feel faint all the time I felt terrible.

Bulimics may go through a severe binge/purge cycle that is very devastating to the body. They may hide or hoard food and overeat when stressed or worried or upset. The bulimic may feel a loss of control during a binge and consume very large quantities of food 9over 20,000 calories). They will then feel bad or dirty for consuming the food and will feel literally sick and have a strong need to purge themselves of the food and the bad feelings. This is when they will purge.

What people don't understand is that bulemics hate the feeling of fullness. They want to eat so that noone will question their weightloss, but hate the food inside. They will do what they have to to get it out. Items like toothbrush, forks, finger, anything long and skinny that will hit the back of the throat and make it come out. And then they feel so much better. Annies dont want to eat. The ylike feeling hunry and feel like they acomplish something from not eating and they do its called weight loss. Both are harmful. There are no positive outcomes. But it is hard to see past what you are doing at the moment and look in to the future..if they even have one. So if you or someone you know has a problem-try to help.
